Apple Silicon (M4) not loading

Hi after submitting ticket & trying there suggestions was told to by “Game Master Sayenold” to make a post here.

I’ll explain… I was using a super old Imac 2011 runnin macOS 10.13 High Sierra, it finally died & was forced to buy a new computer. A Few days ago I ended up buying a BRAND NEW Mac Mini, Apple M4 chip with 10‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
& 24GB unified memory, it’s also running macOS Sequoia’s most up to date O/S. This mac mini is 100 times more powerful than my old imac that ran Sc2 np. Every time i try to launch the game from the battlenet home page a little black window will pop up for a 2nd then i get this error msg. “StarCraft II has encountered an error while initializing your videocard. Please try starting StarCraft II again, or restarting your machine. If the problem persists, for more information consult our support website at http://blizzard.com/support.

The game master gave me a link for someone else that had this issue which was…StarCraft II error while initializing your video card"

"Starcraft crashing at start M1 Mac
exact info “StarCraft II has encountered an error while initializing your video card.”

In the Battle.net desktop client, go to Settings → Game Settings.
Under the Starcraft II section, check the “Additional command line arguments” box.

In the resulting text box, add “-Displaymode 0” (without quotation marks), then click Done.

Launch the game again. It should launch in windowed mode."

So I tried that option a few times but unfortunately it did not solve my problem. I’ll explain again what happens… I entered that text “-Displaymode 0” with out the quotation marks like described in that post, & hit done. the little blacked out windowed screen pops up for a 2nd, then i get the same error message “StarCraft II has encountered an error while initializing your videocard. Please try starting StarCraft II again, or restarting your machine. If the problem persists, for more information consult our support website at http://blizzard.com/support.

I tried entering it a few times thinking just the 1st time didn’t work but unfortunately that didn’t work either, I also tried restarting the battle.net client thinking maybe that would help but nope still same error message.

I sent that back to the Game Master & he replied with…

"I really appreciate you taking the time to try the steps we provided. I’m truly sorry to hear that the issue is still persisting, that’s definitely frustrating, especially when you’ve already gone through multiple attempts to resolve it.

Since you’ve already tried the steps that I provide you and still receive the same error about your video card, it looks like this may be a more complex technical issue. At this point, the best course of action would be to connect with our specialized technical support team via the StarCraft II Technical Support Forums. These forums are monitored by our tech experts and other players who may have encountered similar issues and found solutions. Be sure to include your system specs and the exact error message when posting, this can help speed up the troubleshooting process. SC2 Forums

I’m really sorry for the continued trouble and totally understand how discouraging this can be. We truly appreciate your patience, and we’re here to help you get back into the game as soon as possible."

So that’s where Im at with this issue, still can’t the game to run, please help…

the problem is your using apple silicon, which from what i seen on the forums from others, just wont work with sc2. Macs are already your biggest problem as they are terrible with gaming, but the m4 apple silicon has got to be one of the worst decisions you could of possible made for choosing something to game on. good luck trying to find a solution, but again from what i seen on here it just dont work.

Why even come to the Mac Technical Support forum section to post this? Totally useless post, please go argue with someone else in a different forum section about mac’s for gaming.

no ones arguing bud, theres countless post on the forums in this section about this very topic, and your more than welcome to look.

Please stop posting in this thread unless you have some relatable issues or help. Your spam isn’t helping anyone, Ty

dude what is your problem, seriously theres countless post here about that comp not working with sc2

So after a long hiatus, I reinstalled SC2 on my Mac Mini M2 Pro and ran into the same problem with the “StarCraft II has encountered an error while initializing your video card” problem. I also tried the “-Displaymode 0” fix, which did not work. However, in the same Settings → Game Settings → StarCraft II area there is also a “Reset In-Game Options” button that puts the game back into its default settings. After using that option, the game worked for me and would launch out of the Battle.net app again. There was also no need to use the “Additional command line arguments” feature after the settings reset. Hope that helps.

Omg ty sooo much, that made it work fine!!! Ty " AWetPaperBag" I knew there was a way to run it unlike " WinterKnight’s" spam post’s stating there wasn’t.

yo since there is a solution, can yall post that in the other threads that peeps are haveing the same problem, theres been quite a few over the last year or so that no one got a solution for.
