Zenyatta play has progressed as of late, instead of spending time spamming discord like they used to they are now free to charge up volleys in team fight phase at the tank.
I am not talking about poke phase, I am talking about team fight phase.
Except it just looks like it’s still in poke phase because your taking so much damage that you have to heal up, so every time you engage the enemy tank you have to retreat immediately over and over again.
I’m not saying they don’t use primary by itself, any flanker will tell you zenyatta mains know how to use primary.
But at least with discord there was an indicator of a purple orb hovering above your head that told you, you should hide for 4 seconds to get the thing off you. Now the damage just finds you as soon as you see the 90 degree angle of the wall in front of you.
Edit: In fact most of the time while getting volleyed, I don’t even have discord on me.
Be aware of it position correctly, and be ready to maneuver to take cover.
Confident Zen’s aren’t spamming volley most of the match anyway. We’re taking angles and utilizing regular shots more than volleys as those generally get more value in the long run against competent opponents. If you’re getting volley spammed, your team is allowing Zen too much time to sit and be comfortable to get value instead of him working for it.

Yeah man I def don’t volley very much it’s lower value than main attack. If there is no one in sight then I’ll probably charge if you are the first to peek you get it. We can’t move discord while charging so it’s pretty rare to volley at someone discorded so that’s really for when no one else was in view ever.
My orbs are generally used to sway my dps in their 1v1s, tank I guess if we are having a real problem there but I’d much rather my dps feel confident in their duels because they have an orb or two on their side.
Maybe you are getting unlucky? It could also be a lot more people willing to try zen out with bans? I mean only problem with that is you are going to have an influx of bad zenyattas that don’t even know how to deal with their own flankers. I would guess it as a one off or maybe just playing an angle that means they have no target until someone peeks? I can’t really guess but unless I’m significantly behind on the zenyatta meta from the last week playing stadium it seems unlikely.
6 ball volley does go crazy though.
