And I have an idea to let him stay that way without making tanks want to end everything.
Discord-> now applies a 25% anti heal debuff. Stacks with dps passive.
Zen orb Damage buffed to have a better TTK now that he lost the extra damage, but not quite as high.
This way zen serves as powerful pressure but doesn’t lower the base TTK of his enemy (namely and especially, the tank), he Instead just makes them far more likely to die if they attempt sustained combat.
He could also potentially have his discord lock-out period removed with this change.
This fixes the sudden discord exploding of the tank while still forcing them to respect discord. The compensation also helps keep zen at a similar power level, without dumpstering him.
Anti heal seems to be a healthier concept that damage boosting. Proof is the removal of burst and the introduction of dps anti. It leaves room for counterplay and doesn’t fool with critical break points.
I do not believe nerfing his health will do anything at all to make him feel better to play into for tanks. Balanced zen doesn’t mean “balanced” zen.
I also don’t believe nerfing his discord into being essentially useless on tanks is good, because at the end of the day if zen doesn’t have a solid and valuable niche, he won’t be played (he’d be bad).
If you nerfed discord to 15% on tanks in exchange for other less impactful but still useful buffs maybe that could work.
But just nerfing discord like that would make him utterly outclassed by Ana in every way possible. Need something to die? Anti. Because 15% discord wouldn’t be nearly impactful enough to compete with anti (or even dps passive!) as a pressure tool, even if it has more uptime than Ana’s anti.
