Zarya got her weapon from a Mech

I just figured it out. In the art of overwatch book (I think it was this book, not sure) it says that Zarya ripped her particle cannon off a vehicle. After watching the infiltration short again I realised that on the Mech Katya Volskya is inspecting it has a weapon almost identical to zarya’s particle cannon on the end of one of its arms. So Zarya ripped the arm off of a Mech and used it as a gun. Just a fun fact I thought I’d share

It may not have been a mech as those we saw in the infiltration short were the first new mechs in a long time so it could just be they also used the same weapon

It doesn’t matter if she ripped it off of a tank or mech because either is badass

That would make sense as to why the gun is so heavy, since it’s actually supposed to be held by a mech suit.

The Overwatch Wiki claims that:

Zarya’s particle cannon was ripped from the hull of an armored vehicle during battle, and is too heavy for most soldiers to carry. Her gloves conduct and amplify the energy flowing through it.[12]

-Which to me would imply some sort of Tank/APC and not a Mech. However the source it lists for this (Overwatch Visual Source Book) is something you get from buying the Collector’s edition, so I can’t personally confirm it.

Well a Mech is technically a vehicle, and it is armoured. If you watch infiltration you can see a weapon identical to zarya’s particle cannon on the Mech. Of course, these weapons were probably used on other vehicles as well, not just on mechs

In the Infiltration short the guy presenting the mechs says to Katya “The new guidance systems.”

She says shortly thereafter that those are their new Mechs in over a Decade, so I don’t think Zarya got her gun from them, maybe an earlier version or some Tank as others said
