Why do you think it is a good idea to have it so you automatically get banned after a certain amount of reports… with appealing being useless? You’re making it so the community decides what is bannable which does not make sense… YOU have to make the rules and enforce THOSE rules you dont let the loud angry toddlers in this game decide what is the law, for one you get reported for playing heroes others dont want you to play… if you do not listen to what THEY want you to play YOU get reported and YOU get punished because eventually you will gather enough reports to catch a ban duo it being automatically given.
The report system is honestly garbage
Louder for the people in the back.
Even when I game in complete silence to not be toxic and just play the game I receive “Disruptive gameplay” bans or warnings that my recent behavior is not in line with what they want and with they I mean the angry toddlers who gun you down with a report for gameplay sabotage because they know you will receive a day ban and not a silence from it.
It is being abused and Blizzard is not doing anything about it why?
I was playing late night QP when my family was asleep and after several unsuccessful push attempts I typed in chat ‘What’s going on, that was a great EMP and you were all there’ because I had timed at least 3 good EMP’s in that match so far and my team just didn’t capitalize on them at all, I couldn’t tell if we were getting our backlines demolished or what but this guy just started flipping out at me about how I wasn’t on comms and stuff, and it’s like, dude this isn’t Comp and also sometimes people want to play games while not being on voice chat, this game doesn’t require it, it’s unreasonable to expect it. If you want to be able to expect comms play with your friends.
But yeah spend five minutes typing about how Sombra is throwing the match even though she has three golds and has been very careful to time all her EMP’s with the team close enough to do something with it because she’s not a Sombra main she’s just playing sombra because it’s the best counter to like half the enemy comp e_e it’s her fault, totally!
I doubt they want to hire people to sift through reports, considering they will be getting many thousands upon thousands (likely close to hundreds of thousands) a day.
The appeal process is awful though.
The support staff don’t really follow the actual rules.
I believe it was Jeff who acknowledged at least twice (that I personally saw) that the automated report system was being abused, at least in regards to one tricks.
He said they’ve taken steps to help fix that, but it still seems like one tricks can still trigger the automated suspension system if they receive enough reports in a certain time frame.
Essentially they’ve taken steps to help reduce report abuse causing automatic suspensions but it seems like they still can happen.
As to why they allow this…its the same reason why youtube uses so many automated systems: its not realistically possible to hire enough people to handle everything. They probably get tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of reports a day. There’s no way they can sort through all that or even a small fraction of it so they have no choice but to rely on automatic suspensions and automated silencing systems.
Imagine if society operated on an automated judicial system where citizens report each other for breaking the law. It would be as equally ridiculous as the system Blizzard has in place. It’s worse to punish someone for a crime they didn’t commit than to not punish someone for a crime they did commit. Innocent until proven guilty? Not in Blizzard’s world.
I don’t disagree
Automated systems are awful, I’ve been auto-suspended twice now for playing torb awhile back
I’m just explaining why Blizzard is doing it. I don’t agree with it, but that’s their mentality behind it I’m sure
So what exactly did you not do to get banned?
They should at least make it so the appeal process actually gets done by the support you get in contact with… I’ve tried many times to get into details about my suspension for Disruptive gameplay and the support straight up lies or tries to talk around it or give a vague answer I actually have a really nice screenshot of one of the employees replies and it just shows that being bad is bannable basically.
I also asked for specifics and this guy tells me
“If you are unaware of your playing is considered inappropriate, then i recommend you check out available guides for any hero you play so that you can play them effectively and are of help to the team”
Yes that is an actual quote he/she gave me.
Pathethic.
They probably don’t want to admit “yep, you can be abused by the automated system and there’s nothing we can do about it for ya” so they beat around the bush as much as possible until the person appealing gives up.
I saw a high SR torb one trick on the forums awhile back who made a thread about getting auto-suspended. He had to go through about 10+ tickets before he could find a single GM who actually looked into his auto-suspensions and overturned it
It seems like its technically possible to find a GM who might actually look into the report abuse but its rare
I want to know when they are going to fix this constant smurfing going around. How people are creating accounts after accounts just so they can pick on the people who really are just starting out. You can tell when you get rolled against players that don’t have any stars. There should be a ban against people creating multiple accounts. This game is not even close to enjoyable to play when the really good people are that bored and have to create another account.
While I don’t disagree, the judicial system is pretty corrupt in its own way.
The judicial system isn’t perhaps a good comparison, but his point is that an automated punishment is even worse. As flawed as human beings are, their presence increase the odds of fairness.
Agreed. This reminded me of when I got banned from a TF2 trading website for the stupidest reason.
Besides people abusing the report systems this right here is the other major issue both in-game and here on the forums. The support staff just seem to side with the people who abuse the system or they just don’t care and do their work on auto-pilot. I’ve seen enough screenshots from emails and messages to know there’s a problem with their staff. So not only are the systems broken and easily abused appealing false actions is usually a waste of time. Meanwhile the actual toxic/rule breaking people go on without a care in the world.
It is garbage but don’t expect them to admit it and it’s garbage because they decided mob rule was a better idea than spending more money on it to do it right.
I wonder how they deal with false reports then?
From what I’ve seen, they don’t.
There have been no reports of false reporters being punished in anyway. Surely we would of heard something by now if they had been.
