I play on a notebook with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and an intel i7 9th gen. I don’t have overclock at all.
I was playing without issues until the S9 update when after 5 minutes logged in the game crashed with the error your rendering device was lost. After the first error, the game closes after 1 minute running.
The nvidia driver was also updated today to version 551.52.
I just played a entire PUBG match without any issues.
Tomorrow I will try to downgrade my drivers to test if it fix this issue, but it would be nice to have overwatch working with the latest driver…
The error message is a courtesy alert to tell you the GPU stopped taking commands from Windows. Most games just close without a message when they encounter this issue.
After updating your drivers, you should also check your exported DxDiag for errors to see if another app is interfering.
I understand what the message mean and the possible causes.
I took extra care to close everything that could interfere in OW (browsers, background applications, discord and so on). I even uninstalled some additional software just in case.
The conclusion for now is that OW2 does not play well with nvidia driver 551.52 and my graphic card.
I have downgraded it to 551.23 and things are stable now. I will play more tonight (used my lunch time for tests) and get back with the final results.
