"Your rendering device has been lost"

Hi, I would like some help in sorting this crash out. It’s made my game unplayable. I have done extensive diagnostics on my PC already.

The full error is “Your rendering device has been lost! Application closing!”

Troubleshooting completed:
I have update my windows, there are no longer any updates available for my entire pc.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled OW2.
I have run Aida64 extreme on multiple pieces of hardware; GPU was stress tested for 15 minutes straight with zero artifacts, no problems at all, temps all ran stable, no overheating on any parts of the gpu. Fans don’t even kick on to 80%. I have decreased the temperature thresholds on all my fans in my PC to a lower temp, so they kick on higher speeds at lower temperatures, cooling my pc more effectively and quicker.
I have run Aida64 extreme for GPU benchmark, my PC comes in around 11k overall after a 15 minute benchmark test.
I also ran Aida64 on my CPU for stress testing, CPU is stable, no cores overheating, all of them operating as intended, data transfer, all of it working perfectly.
I ran windows memory diagnostic tool - Came up clean, no issues.
I ran FurMark 2 stress test on my whole PC. It tested data transfer between hardware and software tasks with Aida, all good, no logical issues found on my PC. No physical issue is representing with various tools testing multiple pieces of hardware. There is no data loss, over heating happening on my PC. Every part of my PC is operating as intended.
I also decided to use a DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) this allowed me to completely remove any display driver information that may be corrupt in my registry, hard drive, or any where else any type of display driver information is held. This gave me the ability to do a 100% fresh display driver install. So I downloaded the most current, newest display driver from Nvidia.

I have even tried defaulting all tdr values in my registry hoping that would “re-sync” things.

I’m not running any background programs either and all overlays are turned off.

My game has historically ran perfectly up until a week or two ago.

I have tried to play with various in game settings changed to see if I could narrow it down to a video setting in OW itself. However, I am now getting increasing leaving penalties for trying to troubleshoot this, any more in game troubleshooting will likely lead to a ban. Fun, right?

i found a fix that worked for me

solution 2 on this post worked for me

I have basically the same problem, getting the „Rendering device lost“ error when playing Overwatch and up until now only when playing OW.
In the Windows Event viewer I get an error with „nvlddmkm“.
Basically tried every available solution from online forums the last couple days but nothing fixed the problem so far.
It‘s also pretty annoying that the only way to reliably test a fix is to play Overwatch, as no other stress test or game I played other than OW gives me this error.
