Why is it cynical to look at the numbers?
I do not think anyone is in denial that cheaters do not exist in this game. What people have pointed out is that not everyone that is better than you is a cheater. There’s a difference. No one has ever said that this game does not have cheaters.
it’s a wording people use to describe a way of looking at things, It doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad it more or less means I don’t want to think there are that many because it would make me less encouraged to play.
Fair enough if you don’t want to think that way. But the reality is that in GM you are likely to have a cheater in the lobby. I want Blizzard to think like that instead of feeling whether cheating is worse or not.
I think it’s the nature of narcissism to do such things. They are so consciously or unconsciously fearful of losing that thing that makes them powerful, that they literally derail and bury and attack threads, just like this one, that show the truth.
The truth is, this game is being overrun with cheaters. They simply want to keep on cheating, so damage control is necessary. And as we have seen, all too eager to “EZ”. It’s actually very narcissistic.
Talking about it is enough I think. They get big mad being exposed.
oh I am in agreeance with you here, but when it’s pretty obvious it’s pretty obvious than people will still try to gas light people on here and say they are seeing ghosts basically. So people will always be discouraged to post their replay codes. I post mine because I know what I am looking for. I have played FPS games long enough to know exactly what to look for and it may not be spin botting but it’s def walling and soft aim locking.
Also the fact there are multiple discords chock full of people posting that they ran into hackers every single hour. yeah game totally isn’t got a hacker problem at all especially when they are verified codes. but let’s try and gas light on the forums <3.
Even your own teammates will flame you and say “ur just bad” if you mention someone on the enemy team is cheating.
I’ve faced very obviously cheating Soldiers who locked onto my head with 100% accuracy, and I mean locked on, like snapped from a completely different direction onto my head like a robot.
I’d even swap to Sombra and they’d still snap to my head while I was invisible.
But if I brought it up, my team would defend them and be like “ur just whining cuz he’s diffing u. u suck”.
I really don’t think anyone disbelieves the existence of cheaters.
The forums have just had a number of ‘this guy is cheating!!!1!!’ threads; so we watch the replay… and it’s just two guys in silver ego duelling each other to the detriment of their teams and one gets a lucky shot on the other.
I think that is why some people are sceptical. But that outlook has had the unfortunate side effect of people becoming hesitant to share replay codes for fear of ridicule (which is kind of the opposite environment we should be aiming for when it comes to looking for potential cheaters.)
Ok… how would you like us to do that?
Cheating is an issue, and many feel not enough is being done about it: How does one go about bringing that up with Blizz? Because it doesn’t matter if everyone here believes cheaters are an issue or not, if Blizz won’t address it, the point is moot.
All the cheats you are seeing in the replay are really bad cheats by the way
And there’s barely any people in GM, even when I was playing in GM in OW1 and for the first few seasons of OW2 I barely met any, I’m not saying they don’t exist but there wasn’t a lot of them.
What makes me a bit skeptical is hearing people in bronze / silver / gold saying they see hackers everywhere.
But there are people who say they’ve played thousands of hours and have never seen a cheater. I haven’t done the math, but winning the lottery probably has better odds than that occurring.
Yea, I don’t think you or any of us gold forum baddies can actually tell when someone is cheating. Most of the time we are all just mad that someone is better than us at all. That’s why RQ and 5v5 are even here.
I have honestly never seen anyone on here or anywhere else deny a blatant aimbotter, spinbotter or wallhacker when presented with one. Never.
You need to understand that this community is an extremely soft, snowflake community that cannot take criticism when it comes to their gameplay and cannot or hardly can accept the fact that there are better players than them so everyone must be cheating. The players in this game have such a high ego and in 80% of the cases have nothing to show for it. They call smurfs cheaters. They call legit players who are miles better than them cheaters because they are better than them so it is pretty normal to have doubts when such players cry cheats. (just for the record I am not saying that you or OP are those people, just speaking in general)
However, the cheating epidemic has never been worse imo in OW as it is now. Every single day I open Youtube I see a streamer posting a spectating cheater video and I personally have only encountered 2 cheaters since the beginning of OW2 in my matches but I definitely have no doubt that other players have had more.
If that’s a hacker that’s a really awful one, I noticed the aim snapping a couple of times but besides that hard to tell.
A lot of times people don’t realize when they do actually get a cheater.
People are quick to scream “(HERO) is cheating! REPORT!” because they got killed by what is probably a one in a million lucky shot or actual skill. But say literally nothing when the Baptiste is having a seizure from how fast he’s snapping to targets (usually because they’re on their team).
I’ve been questioning a lot of players lately, going back into replays to watch them in slow motion. I’ve reported everything from Hanzo’s to Junkrat’s, even a D.Va at one point.
People have literally desensitized themselves to cheaters because they’ve basically just reported everyone who is even slightly better than them. It’s honestly kind of baffling.
You realize even top 500 are even saying the exact same thing that there is a dramatic increase in hacking in overwatch? you act like it’s just a “low rank problem” when it’s a overall game problem that everyone is experiencing, or a lot of players are. It doesn’t mean every player runs into them, but a lot of people are, and the experience is happening throughout the ranks. The fact multiple top 500 within the last week have even said it’s a horrible problem yet people on these forums keep downplaying it is just sad and making excuses for blizzard at this point to not get off their rear and step up or stop demanding money for stuff because it’s obvious overwatch is on life support because they aren’t even trying remotely to take care of their IP.
I never said it wasn’t. I am incredibly aware that cheating is rampant in top500 as well.
I am talking about the people who blatantly ignore the problem, while pointing fingers at those who are innocent.
They are allowed to point fingers especially right now when hacking is so prevalent, and blizzard is doing nothing to deter hacking. The game needs a better anti-cheat or some form of update to its anti-cheat because it’s obviously not working.
To discourage people from trying to be aware or try to understand what’s going on around them is a disservice and is just pushing them into a bad headspace where they think they may be worse than they actually are when they probably are just experiencing things like others are where people get ego checked then turn on their crappy hacks and walls to win a game because they can’t help but feel like they have to just to win a QP game even. It’s pure narcissism.
Recklessly and mindlessly reporting people is not the way to go.
If the person in question is blatantly cheating, sure, go ahead. But if you can’t 100% say for certain, then at least look into it before you go possibly falsely accusing someone of cheating.
it’s the other way around, if you have any inkling of thinking someone is hacking you should report them and let blizzard do the full checking even blizzard has said that in the past. Not to mention most streamers, top 500 even say the same thing. If you have any remote just vibe someone feels off you should report them and let them be investigated.
Mind you I am not saying go off on a report spree I am saying if you see someone aiming at walls in replays at your teammates, if you see them snapping or tracking on projectile hero’s at a specific distance to hit their shots perfectly… its pretty darn obvious…
