You should be able to queue for multiple modes at once

Sometimes I’m in the mood to play something weird, like zero gravity in arcade. But I don’t wanna wait 20 min for a small mode like that. So instead, I just resort to quick play or deathmatch.

Well why should I have to pick just one? Wouldn’t it make more sense to let us queue for qp, deathmatch, zero gravity, and maybe even comp all at the same time, and put us in whichever mode there’s a spot open for first? Wouldn’t that not only help queue times across modes, but also give us more freedom to play the less popular modes?

I shall necro this thread because the funny blue box on the right told me to do so instead of making another post on this topic.

But seriously, why can’t we? Are we withholding that for Overwatch 2 as well?

This is even more relevant now that there’s open queue. Why not let people queue for role queue and open queue at the same time?

I’m not entirely sure how the matchmaker works, but I think this would be somewhat stressful for it. You could basically multiply the amount of work that the matchmaker is doing.

as if matchmaking can get any worse

But wouldn’t that be annoying to have people in QP join and leave all the time?

Like you’re in the middle of a teamfight °poof° your tank is gone because they happened to be in another queue?

It’s fine for deathmatch but I’m not sure it this will work for other game modes

Well even if it’s a fair question it’s kinda pointless……there’s like no wait time for OQ compared to RQ….it would pretty much always pop first

No, he said queing for multiple modes and joining whichever one opens up.

Essentially, instead of ticking just the three boxes in QP, there would be another row of roles for Competitive that you can tick as well. So you would be queued for DPS in QP and DPS in Competitive and whichever starts first, you go to.

I’d actually like to expand that further and have you NOT leave the queue even when the game starts.

A game of QP is actually shorter than the queue time in Competitive, so if you queue for both, QP would likely open up first, you play that, and when you’re done you would be further along in the Competitive queue and not have to start over.

Wouldn’t that get really confusing for people? If they get backfilled or thrown into any mode how do they know in which mode they just got pushed.

I’ve never been able to get into an OQ game because the queue times get to 20+ min, then I just give up at that point

Are you high level? Cause I can see the queues going up near the extremes….I’m gold/plat….if the queue goes above 2 mins there’s like something wrong

Really really badly.

As doing multiple queus would be an awful thing with how the things are right now.

It’s been some time since I played Open Q, but Tank, Support or Flex in Role Q has always been faster for me than Open Q :woman_shrugging:

I dont see how, paladins lets you do it despite being a smaller game.
