The lead character artist that Alphacast interviewed said they are unsure if they will bother giving Echo an updated look for OW2.
They should give her an updated look that has more design cues from the established damage visual language. She needs sharper edges, sharper wings, more corners and additional details added to her chassis and limbs.
Why? She’s perfect as it is. The idea behind the new designs on OW2 it to unify to look of the heroes now that OW has a more set esthetic identity. Being released now, Echo is already closer to that new esthetic, and doesn’t need a new look, especially not for such a borish reason.
The need for Echo’s design to reflect her lore and character GREATLY outweigh the need for it to reflect her role.
In my opinion Echo doesn’t need any visual changes, she’s perfect (aside from that insanely pointy forehead lol)
Many heroes dont need new skins… i mean new visual design, and im guessing echo was added because they can use excuse of her being “good as it is” to show her now, but not realy add her to the game anyway.
Thinking about it more make me even more and more pesymistic toward game development.
