If I type something, it’s called ‘crying’ regardless of what is said. If I disable chat, I get reported for not communicating. Not blaming the game, that’s just the community still playing it seems. But hey, people can’t be toxic if you don’t give them a place to be toxic in. I haven’t seen a proper discussing of strategy in months anyway. Also, put in a voting system please to forfeit the match as a team. Having to fight a clearly lost match isn’t making people less toxic either. Just require 5/5 or 4/5 votes. Easy as that.

At this point, the community enjoys having the chat and being able to weaponize the report system against other players. Especially 3-4 stacks who use report spamming as “revenge” against their teammates.
You have to understand something about video game players (and most people hanging out on the internet in general) is that they are impotent people with failed careers, no relationships, and poor financials. They love the reporting system because it’s the only chance they will get in their day to feel power over another human.
Normal, well-adjusted humans are increasingly checking out of all online activities because the concentration of toxic, terminally online “internet people” has grown too high. (As another observation, most of the replies to your thread will be from people with thousands of posts on this Overwatch forum, who will reply for the sole sake of arguing with and belittling you to compensate for their intellectual insecurities).

Can’t see much point with the text chat anymore tbh. It used to be that if there was a cheater, you could type to the enemy to ask for a draw if possible and waste the cheater’s time. Nowadays people just ignore you and carry on playing with a cheater on their team because, hey, SR is SR!
So yeah group chat is crap, it’s only used to flame teammates.
All chat is crap, it’s used to trash talk, shame others, or tell people they are ‘cringe’ for playing a certain way/hero or playing to win.
As for the forfeit, I don’t agree on that one. People give up way too easily, and I’ve won too many matches to count where someone had deemed carrying on pointless. Also people would spam it, and it would be yet another thing people are doing instead of playing the game.

The quickest way to horbor good chats is to make a game that doesn’t casue so much backlash all the time.
We are all at eachothers throat because they game, devs, mods, content creators, andcommunity puts us in that mood.

Sounds like “you” problem tho. Maybe don´t complain in game chat.
I use chat to coordinate, strategize, and socialize, while toxics use it to belittle and insult. Anything can be misused given human imagination – just look at how some use glue outside of its intended purpose.

Never had a problem about not using any chat. And neither typing if was useful and non targeted message.
Like: focus on enemy hero x, it’s enabling hero Y.
Other than that, ping and communication wheel solves all my problems and I don’t get annoyed from random sounds messing up spatial sense anyways.
People who don’t want toxic chat should play vs AI.
But be careful, they say GG post game, so make sure you don’t get stomped lest you feel AI is gloating.

Yes, about the forfeit, that just sped up RoCo’s end, toxic players interested only in ruining other people’s matches, were spamming surrender even if their team was leading the match.

His yummy is yucky. Speaking of which, if you have not tried the Pretzel Stuffed Crust Pizza at Little Caesars. Holy macaroni it’s surprisingly good. I am obsessed. It’s saltier than I am while playing Overwatch, though. If you hate salt, steer clear.
