You DO NOT nerf dmg on a sniper range

You nerf overall dmg or you simply don’t, all these dps are being looked at simply because the tanks meta is absolute garbage, the game was fundamentally made to play with a shield tank, not 2 not 3. Stop nerfing dps and revert the MT nerfs and balance the timers on sheilds and other small numbers.

You dont touch long range percentages on burst dps when its a slow rate of fire, thats decreasing the skill cap and catering to the casuals again, people only cry about widow because they get rolled by widows in ranked, if you are better and this is assuming all things equal the better team will ALWAYS win. The same logic can be used for any hero, “better mcree wins” “better ana wins” “better hog wins” its only regarded to widow because people get salty they get rolled by a widow every 1 in 10 games and remember it in the back of their heads.

If you can’t operate within those ranges as Widow, you probably shouldn’t be playing Widow in the first place.

You don’t make a hero that never fit OW to begin with. A game with fast-paced mid-range combat where everybody have loud abilities, explosive ults (literaly and metaphoricaly) and unthinkable concepts is not a place for a CSGO sniper with Mabel’s grapling hook and a wall-hack ultimate.

who said you cant… its simply lowering the skill cap for no reason, high elo players use these to outplay teams which are also high elo players, its not at ALL an easy shot and they should not be nerfing insanely hard to hit shots because some plats are mad they got spawn camped. also HOOKSHOTS widows signature move is being nerfed HEAVILY, when you hook shot that creates an angle which increases the range by 20-30 percent creating several more spots than these stated.

The Widowmaker fall-off has good direction but the wrong implementation.

For 60 whole meters it deals 120 damage. 25% more range and it deals 50% less damage?

50-100 would have been far smoother and thereby more sensible.

Or, give Widow revert the charge speed nerfs somewhat but give her 40-80 falloff. Less obligatory in long stretches, but feels less like molasses when played in closer quarters.

Similarly, Ashe’s should probably be 30-60, up from 30-50, if we’re nerfing her damage, as not to excessively detune her thresholds at long range (to higher TTK vs. 200 or 250 targets than McCree faces even with his nerf).

How do the Widow nerfs address power creep? Like, even the warped forum definition does not fit here…

Outside of trickshotting there aren’t places in the game with 100m distance even 85m are nonexistent without trickshotting.
60m with direct line of site are between 3 or 4.

Scoped shot’s reduced for 10->7 that causes slower firing rate if you take into account reload time and scoping.

who are you to define what fits and doesnt fit into a game? What the heck is sigma? an off tank with a sheild? never been in the game, Brig? off tank support 1v1 god in one role? that sound like vanilla overwatch? no its not a definition its a game

What is the warped forum definition of powercreep?

I think the nerfs past 60 meters is a buff for the tanks and champs with over 200 hp.

This way is harder for window to farm ult charge from tanks that have big hit boxes but are really far away. She does less damage and also cant one shot the 250 heroes past 70 meters. Maybe thats the power creep these “warped” forums are talking about, but im not sure.

Its a pretty decent buff for the tanks. It’s not a bad nerf, but its really not that strong either. The effective range and most of her sniper spot will remained unchanged and she’ll do the same damage as always.

It’s nothing but a situational nerf.

I’m almost sure the forums will beg for tougher widow nerfs after they realize these nerfs aren’t going to change much.

Correct it nerfs the skill cap meaning better players will get less value on this hero now, sad that its come to nerfing skill because low rated players cried enough

I can’t say for 85 exact, but when testing via Workshop there were certainly plenty of standard, iconic Widow vantage points on Escort or Hybrid maps that had over 80 meters’ line of sight. Now, it takes only 76.7 meters to fall below 200 damage, so many of those are awkwardly neutered.

The falloff would appear a non-mechanic right up until it’s suddenly crippling (in places where you’d expect Widow to be most advantaged). That’s what I meant by 25% of the initial range being too small a period over which to reduce 50% of the damage.

Compare that to McCree. He has to reach 250% of his pre-falloff distance to drop to 50% damage. With this, Widow would take just 125% of her pre-falloff to likewise halve her damage. That’s… really uninituitive.

Is there even a singular definition? It is just a buzzword that everyone misuses to support nerfs because they believe that only nerfing heroes will magically balance the game because content creators told them so. Either way, most people at least vaguely understand that power creep comes from somewhere post launch, Widow has always had no fall off. No idea where power creep comes into play and while I have seen dozens of misused definitions, this is quite different, to say the least.

Yes, this community has always been out for Widow. Nothing new there.
