You can be carrying while having the worst score

A lot of statwatch members dont realize that a dps can have the most abysmal numbers in the lobby and carry.

A tracer/sombra/any flanker with lower damage and like acore of 6/6 may look like a hard inter, but:

This is essentially what I call the gnat playstyle - if the enemy supports and a dps consistently chase the flanker and try to peel eachother for extended periods of time means that the frontline is bound to crumble under the 4v2/ 4v3 with support deficit unless the skill gap of the rest of the team is huge.

Yes some dps feed but a lot of times a flanking dps can’t get direct value so instead they absorb attention and cooldowns through pressure.

I wouldn’t say this is carrying. Helping maybe but not carrying.

Cause at some point, your opponents need to die to let your team capture the objective. So unless all 5 opponents are chasing one flanker, that flanker ain’t carrying, they’re just helping.

But good Sombras don’t need high damage stat.

Agreed to both of these posts but sometimes numbers do indicate something. Lucio with 400 healing after 5 fights maybe harrassed the backline and weakened the focus, but maybe their team instead needed healing or a different character entirely. In the end, its just not black and white and people should come to terms with that

There are way too many factors that go into winning a game of OW for either stance to be right. Stats don’t tell the whole story, but a story that isn’t told is worthless.
