Everyone here that agreed with/supported rq infesting the game with its long q times, has no place to complain about 5v5.
heh thats about everyone really, i remember i was so against role queue but i did get use to it eventually and im sure ill get use to this 1-2-2 too
Ooh, that means I have the right to complain!
Donât threaten me with a good time.
This has nothing to do with RQ, there is still going to be a RQ in OW2 you know. And I donât believe Q times will improve much because you know where all the off tank players are going to go? To DPS, there are going to be even more DPS looking for a game now, so it might even be worse than how it is now rofl.
But⌠role queue worked. Its been amazing since it launched. Only people that have hated it are flex players for obvious reasons but theyve adapted and dps players.
So the whole game is being ruined because of dps players crying over their queue times, instead of taking some responsibility and learning to be flexible. After all, thats why role queue was implemented in the first place, stupid 4-5 dps games.
So in summary, dps players are a bunch of whiny children who get what they want because Daddy blizzard wont say no to them. They havenât learned anything in the last 2 years since role queue was added, despite them being the reason why it was added
Yes we all created the game here. All our fault.
I think 222 was the first epic mistake for their design team. Epic, in the sense there were many better solutions (like lfg2.0 rewards and/or a soft-lock system). And because people on their team held on so firmly to that forced 222 notion, despite the queues prophecy, the bribed throwroles prophecy, the alienating pew pew gaming prophecy, etc.
We saw all kinds of subsequent issues and nothing but bandaid afterthoughts to stopgap those leaks to preserve the precious 222.
Now weâre at this OW2 turning point. I still prefer OPEN 6v6 to OPEN 5v5, and think 5v5 wonât work as locked 122 format. To me, the more general theme is handcuffs and jail cells, not simply tank design to make it less foreign and appealing enough for people to main and choose over other roles without breaking balance.
Locking things down is just as much, if not more, out-of-touch with gamers than contrived tank role.
So why arenât they looking at other models not just 5v5 122 lockdown with weird tanks? What is so impossible about semi-open 6v6 like 121+2flex or 5v5 121+1flex, where flex or util is a small pool of off-role and hybrid/utility heroes. You move heroes in/out of that pool based on balance or meta shifts.
Why canât they learn from the freedom of OPEN.
I dont get why the wait is that long. They brought ways to reduce it I also think 2 2 2 was a great idea. I dont get why people think they did this for queue times, if they did then I really wont play anymore. The queue time issue just is a problem overwatch found itslef in when they started with offense and defense and the damage. I think role queue is fine, it sucks but it is just life.
In literally every product/service/process/system/industry on the planet that generates value for people - wait times are the ultimate enemy. Even more than quality. Quality is for indie craft products that donât scale up to AAA production levels and âmillions of playersâ. Consumers sac quality left and right, they want immediacy and disposability 4/5 times. Especially in entertainment. Quantity keeps you relevant more easily than quality.
The quality (which is subjective, and always a gamble) needs to average out and scale up faster than the irrateness you inflict by making people wait.
222 broke this cardinal rule. It made people wait for stuff they wanted, and made people take bribes for stuff they hated. That is not an agile or sustainable model. With locked roles there is always supply/demand mismatch, and there is still always this gamble on match quality. So nothing is better, and you downward spiral from there.
How does that translate to RQ âworkedâ? Youâre describing a trade-off that literally doesnât work.
Itâs so basic to me that OPEN is just better. For the crybabies, OPEN with some soft-locks to stop goats or all-dps is what they should be looking at for OW2. Even a 5v5 with 111+2flex or 121+1utility so you can have your offtank or offsup as need be to keep things fresh.
thatâs fine. Iâll deal with it.
First off, welcome back to the OW forums, hulk! How has life treated you since I last heard from you, my dude?
Second, I am in full agreement with the OPâŚrole queue folks brought this on themselves. And fortunately, the amount of folks which previously defended role queue (and even sent those who disagreed with role queue on vacation by abusing forum flags) is dwindling by the dayâŚand the ones that are still defending role queue are using an increasing amount of mental gymnastics to try and prove why role queue should still be included (some of those mental gymnastics earning those role queue defenders a badly needed forum vacation).
Like, I highly doubt every match was 6 insta-lock dps or insta-lock goats prior to role queue being implemented. But role queue defenders bullied people who dissented from role queue or didnât accept that hyperbole, even abusing forum flags to make dissidents agree. Well, you had your fun, role queue defenders and 2-2-2 lovers, now itâs our turnâŚand we have not forgotten your attempted manipulation of the community.
Pre-role queue is exactly why so many people are upset right now. No one wants to go back to solo tanking because no one else wanted to play tank. Itâs the reason why we wanted role queue, itâs the reason why the queue times are so long, and now itâs the reason why weâre dropping a tank. Stubborn through to the end.
But⌠open queue is available right now? So if open queue is the solution then why arent dps queue times super low. Answer, because open queue isnt the solution. Having open roles allows too much freedom to players that the game quality suffers. With open queue you dont get consistent teams. Some games you get a tank, some you dont. And even dps players want a tank so they dont die immediately and can actually get kills. Also with open queue theres no separate srs for each role meaning you can have people playing 1000 sr below you because they chose their off role.
Role queue worked because it did its job of making games more consistent and removing outlier comps with high amounts of dps, tanks or supports in them. Something everyone should want. So yes. Role queue was good for this game but you people still cant see all the good its done. The only negative it had was queue times and that only effects 1/3 of the roles in the game. So 2/3 have fine queue times plus like role queue. Seems like a win to me
No, the devs brought it upon themselves considering the tank:support:dps ratio. Itâs not a coincidence that the most played role by far has the most heroes by far. Itâs also not a coincidence that the tank role (who receive endless nerfs) are an unpopular role.
Not everyone.
There is still few people like me who dont like role q to this day.
Why dont u like it?? Explain
Dps have alternative pvp and pve style games name another first person pvp game that has tanks like overwatch
People not wanting to play tank and support are why we are here 222 improved the metal ranks drastically and people who were hardstuck silver that I know are now 3700 tank mains bc 5 dps in silver really was elo hell for team centric people who werenât confident or couldnât play characters well enough to climb inspite of their teams
I dont like forcing people to be lock in certian role.
Sometimes your tank player does not know how to play dive tank like dva, but your support do. So they could swap around and make different team comp. And stuff like that.
My most fun games were when we swap roles around few times to build best team comp there is to counter other team when losing.
Also, i actually like comp like goats, played it sadly only once tho, but that personal preference.
I also was fine with solo tanking a lot of times before, with different balance.
And that is all ignoring the thing like long q times if someone pick dps.
When I say 3700 Iâm not talking about boosted and donât play they have been masters for over 9 seasons now
