What changes do you make?
get rid of push for good …honestly ive always hated that mode
- restore ow1 6v6
- restore ow1 matchmaking
- restore ow1 comp system
- restore 2cp maps (+ widen the chokes/alter spawn distances)
- reduce push game length
- remove flashpoint
First I’d revert the entire game to OW1’s final state and use that as a base rather than try to change OW2. OW2 is a lost cause.
Then I’d remove EOMM.
Then I’d add a full-featured creative tool.
Delete OW 2 and bring back OW 1, lootboxes and create a separate team for a fully fledges PVE game
Focus on making a game people are willing to pay for instead of designing a game around its monetization?
You’d be surprised how good games can be when the focus is actually the game first
delete all tank characters and make the game a 4v4
Scrap the matchmaking for a fair system…
Remove the report system, and give everyone unlimited avoids

Aaron Keller resurrects his OG mojo, and goes back to designing maps and training others to design good maps. He’s given some cool procedural tools to autogen a shortlist of viable maps and polishes those with actual QA people.

If I’m given the Lead Dev job in OVerwatch, Im wondering where I failed to find myself in this predicament. Why would I take this hunk of garbage that could only be saved by cleaning house and starting over with 5 years of development time
Oh, I dont think you want me to be the lead dev for OW2, trust me.
I would wipe the slate clean make the game 6v6 1 main tank with shield, 1 off tank no shield, 2 dps with fast movement passive, 2 healers would basically be slightly weaker DPS but with right click healing shot. The ults would be the only really game changers and thing that would need balance since the rest is a symmetrical.
Overeatch devs have forgotten what is paramount to a competitive game. Equal opportunity to succeed based on skill rather than external factors. Reward skill, accuracy and strategy on a level playing field.
