Before I start I want to mention that fun is subjective and different for every person. This is just my view on the topic.
I have been a D.Va main since the beginning. I was there during the time when she had a long matrix and 400 armor. It was literally the D.Vacalypse. She was extremely strong and pretty much could fly in 1v6 and fly out after getting a pick while still keeping Meka.
It was great because I could pretty much do whatever I want and get away with it. Punishment was not a thing for me.
Eventually through more reworks and nerfs she was brought back down to where she is now. She can no longer bully the enemy team to the extent that she used to. She no longer has a matrix that outlasts most ults, and she gets punished much easier.
I still enjoy her just as much and take pride in the character. However a character that is stupidly op will eventually be brought down to the rest of the cast. Since people cant get away with what you could before they will often call the character trash, useless, f-tier, or my personal favorite ānot fun.ā
At this point a player could learn their character better to fix their shortcomings, move onto another character, or quit. Or you could whine on the forums constantly, throw matches, call another persons opinion invalid because they either dont main the character or they have less hours than you. The choice is really yours.

Not sure if D.Va is the best example given she was a top pick essentially all the time once people realized she was viable except for the initial Brigitte period where dive was being crippled. They arguably never brought her in line. She is and has always been one of the best characters in the game. Mercy went on some crazy 0-100 back to 25 up to 50 journey and the only real reason anyone found her OP was because she could bring better characters back to life.
The fact of the matter is that Mercy mains are not giving up on their hero and I respect that.
As someone who āmainedā Mercy, I havenāt played her at all for months. I main D.Va now.

I was giving my experience with her. Maybe I should have used my second main Ana.
Also this topic has nothing to do with Mercy. Its characters in general that were op but brought back down
Indeed. I am just saying that the lesson does not translate entirely well. I get your point, however, and it is a moderately decent one.

I canāt say I remember too much of how DVa was back in Season 3 because I was usually always exclusively playing Lucio since that was the meta.
What I can say say now though is that Iāve recently been getting into DVa and she is such an incredibly fun hero. I canāt even imagine how she was back then.
But I think what matters is that after the long period of the DVa megathreads and all the fiascos that went down, DVa still held strong and still has a great place in the game.
Ok then I will use Ana. I enjoyed using her from her release (before anyone knew she was even op.) out of nowhere she becomes viewed as god tier and with that came the nerfs. Eventually she became what people called āf-tierā for well over a year.
I still enjoyed the character and played her despite everyone telling me to play moira or mercy instead. I had fun with her through the hard times.
My third main is roadhog. He is considered weak when people viewed him once as really strong. I still enjoy him and get plenty of use.
My point is that when a character is super strong, people tend to have more fun. But when they are balanced down people call the character bad or unfun and complain rather than work on themselves as players

People also need to realize when enough is enough and try to put aside petty feeling just to try to gut a hero they didnāt like playing against, even if said hero was overtuned in the past and brought back in line

How? Thereās literally no room for improvement with Mercyās current kit besides spamming GA and knowing when to damage boost over heal. Takes literally no effort to learn either of those things and then once you do them you hit a wall because youāre doing everything you can with her horrible kit. The reason all of the other supports are better picks is because you do all of that AND bring whatever utility they have. Mercy has no utility that other heroes donāt already have, excluding Res. But res is so clunky to use now that itās impossible to use during a fight so it might as well not exist.
I hit a wall at 2500sr trying to climb with Mercy but then was able to easily climb to diamond playing Ana and Moira. Mercy literally canāt compare to the other two main healers at all right now. She needs way more help still than this half revert.

Seriously? You canāt honestly compare D.Vaās (or any other heroās) rework and how you ~overcame~ and ~persevered~ to the absolute garbage Mercy mains have been put through.
Let them be angry. Let them make threads. If virtually any other character in the roster had been nerfed 14 times there would be an equal amount of complaints by the people that mained them.

Donāt even try. Thereās literally only one hero that people are complaining about. You trying to backpedal is pathetic.
You clearly arent maxing out her kit like you claim you are if there are master and gm mercy players and you couldnt break out of plat with the same kit

You mean the top players like Animetic and EeveeA that used to be Top500 or high GM but have so far fallen down to Masters, which is just one rank higher than what I play at with FAR harder heroes? They arenāt maxing her kit out? Give me a break.
Umā¦ do you see the forums? Tons of characters are being complained about. Moira, reaper, roadhog, and sym for example. Stop looking through a narrow keyhole
Iām literally only seeing posts about Mercyās ābuffā. I havenāt seen one person complain about Hog or Reaper and the only thing Iāve seen about Sym is that her ult is a little meh but no one really cares that much since sheās such a better hero overall.
