Yo for those struggling with non-binary venture hate

It’ll get better soon, I know it would be difficult with all the disrespectful people right now, but it will get better. It’s always like this once a hero comes out as something, but it always gets better.

No one cares about soldier being gay anymore for example, even though there was a huge uproar a few years ago about it for whatever reason, people get over it and move on, and the world is becoming more and more respectful and kind these days.

It’s a bit different with a non-binary hero getting released, people are just not used to it at the moment, this is why you’re seeing a bit more hate, compared to what we saw with bap for example.

But blizzard did the right thing, and people will get used to it, and the world will continue becoming more respectful overtime, even if it might not seem like it right now.

For those of us who are not non-binary, please be respectful, it costs 0 dollars to be a decent human being  It’s okay to be a little confused at first about this all, but being respectful could mean the world to someone who has likely dealt with a lot of hate in their life. If you are a bit disrespectful towards non-binary people it’s never too late to change!

It’s really hard these days to tell the difference between serious posts and satire.

Honest post, hopefully, it doesn’t get flagged.

It’s not satire, just be respectful and kind, that’s all.

Non-binary is just confusing nomenclature. Binary is a construct comprised of two things. In this case, the construct is gender. The idea that this both accepts that construct and rejects it simultaneously is what drives the audacity of this particular inclusion.

Agender would perhaps make more sense?

Perhaps in computing it doesn’t make sense; something can either be 1 or 0, it’s a very rigid rule.
In real life though it makes sense because the rules aren’t rigid. 1 and 0 describe the binary ‘norms’ but 2,3,4,5…etc can also exist.

I think agender implies that the person feels no gender at all. Non-binary is used because it is applies to a broad spectrum of people.

We’re still talking about a video game character right?

I do believe Venture isn’t even aware of the hate.

Agender also falls under the non-binary umbrella.

Fortunately not! But real non-binary people are.

Non-binary implies neither of two within a given binary. The only other value is null.

I’m not even sure that’s true but hey if that’s the hill you wanna die on, go for it. You will be left behind though. Languages evolve.

But they aren’t Venture.

And real black people aren’t Lucio. I’d still expect them to be offended if people were acting racist towards Lucio though

I wouldn’t expect them to be offended.

And that’s where we differ! Good day.

It’s not a language issue, it’s the concept of binary, which is the concept that powers our ability to communicate right now. You can’t feel your way out of that.

You know binary isn’t just a computing thing, right?

That’s correct. The concept extends beyond computing. What’s your point?

You are confusing understanding with acceptance.

Non binary people understand the binary view of gender, which is how they know it doesn’t work for them. This is how lots of things work in life

Is it audacious for someone to identify as pan, because they understand what straight and gay mean?

If your answer is yes, congrats: you’re a bigot.

Also, no, a gender might not fit someone who is non binary. A non binary person might still see themselves as having gender, just not one that falls in the traditional binary.

At least we aren’t talking some teeth of some pixels.

If you’re asking for my opinion, I think identities in general are audacious and generally pointless. People are who they are and should simply be able to be who they are without strings attached or harassment.
