Well we should chart it out for people so everyone knows the best time of day/week to play

Based on what I’ve seen on forums in last year it would seem that:

  • Weekends are bad
  • weekdays are pretty bad
  • early mornings are pretty bad
  • late evenings are bad
  • middle of the day is bad (this post)
  • start/middle/end of comp season is bad
  • during events
  • during sales is bad
  • when schools are on vacation it’s bad
  • during holidays is bad
  • during daylight savings it’s bad
  • full moon is bad
  • during festivus….

Well….you get the idea…

You’ll definitely get a different audience depending on when you play.

Generally in games, weekends provide a lower average skill level than weeknights. Just about everyone has freetime on weekends, so that’s when you’ll see all of the “casual” players mixed in, whereas only the people who are a little more dedicated are regularly jumping in to play the game as soon as they’re done with work or school.

The only people typically playing games in the middle of a weekday are people who neither go to school nor have jobs (unless they work nightshifts or play games as their job), but I don’t know what that would suggest about their skill level in a game.

Mid-mornings to mid-afternoon EST before the Big Cheese drops the squeakers off is the best time during the day. Sad I usually have to work : /

There is a small time period where Overwatch is kinda good. It’s after 9pm, and before 11pm, during the week, except for Friday.

That explains a lot. The matchmaker should use “age of account” as a factor.

I wish. Anything that gets smurfs out of my games. I’d say out of the 40 I’ve met, only 1 was a proper new account.

I don’t even care about losing to them, these losers are also the people who are on an account that they feel no fear of consequences with, so they say and act very nasty. That’s what bothers me. Like, I wish their nasty words and behavior would land them a ban on their main account somehow.

Time of day has no bearing on whether your games are “good” or “bad.” Only queue times.

Weekends are bad.

I call it the “weekend warriors” problem. It is noticeably worse than weeknights.

yeah, you can’t play weekdays or weekends…

the only time matches are remotely balanced are weekdays between 7pm and 11pm

i disagree with that, especially on consoles. the number of smurfs goes way up on the weekends. it looks like there are a lot of people who start a new account every week or so since its free

i have a pc account and the same happens there too
