YES - Cloud gaming latency IS good enough

This was LAST year on the base tier. As you can see I already had a good latency.

Things have only improved since then!

IF your connection is good enough then cloud gaming is a very acceptable option for competitive games including shooters.

I don’t know how things are in the US or how the internet works there but in the EU fast, unlimited internet is getting cheaper and cheaper and more widely available.

I don’t see why the rest of the world should be held back just because some countries have yet to upgrade their internet infrastructure.

So the question is should Activision Blizzard bring their games back, including overwatch, onto GFN?

The only way could gaming will be good is fiber optics everywhere. Latency is round trip delay which is caused by every stop along the way from software to the physical wiring which most is in copper wires. Fiber optics lets you at least remove the land latency. There will still be latency introduced by software and exchanges.

It is fine for single player and games that doesn’t require mouse precision but not good enough for pro level pvp fps. There is still a lot of input lag even if you have the fastest connection. How far you are from the cloud server also matters a lot.

However it can still be better option compared to playing on low end PC.

My friend I’m telling you look at the video… Look at what it says for my RTD… (top left it’s pretty small)

I’ve measured all of this stuff…

The latency is at a point now where it IS good enough for lot of people!

Fibre optics is getting more and more common in several countries!

We’re talking about less than 40ms click to pixel latency being a possibility on the highest tier! That’s incredible!
