Yeah Honestly Solo Queue Is Hopeless

Not trying to sound like a typical DPS player, but after dropping 550 SR this season, I think I can complain a little bit.

This game is LITERALLY impossible to climb in solo queue.
No matter what, you can have an entire collections of golds, constantly on fire, constantly getting picks, and your team will do NOTHING to contribute to a victory. Sure, you have good and bad games, and sure, you always have those 1-2 teammates that are actually trying. But it’s honestly a joke that someone who is putting in so much constant work and playing well in his role is still losing games over and over.

It’s not tilt, I always get off after two losses, no matter what.
It’s not a skill issue, my primary complaint is over performing and still losing.
Did I somehow screw my MMR so bad that I get matched with literal robots?
At this point it feels hopeless, and having a competitive personality it takes every fiber of my being to not flame anyone and continue call outs as usual.

I’m inclined to agree. Every other game there’s SOMETHING that just screws you over, be it a leaver, a smurf on the other team, a troll, poor team comp, whatever. I recently found a nice 6-stack and I almost got back to gold until I got suspended lol. The difference in having a consistent team that isn’t completely unaware about basic mechanics is just massive. Solo queue is basically asking to lose unless you get lucky, or the enemy team gets unlucky, or you’re in an elo significantly below where you belong, and even then… had a game earlier this week where a widow smurf was dinking our entire team to death, but we still ultimately won because the widow’s team c9’d the payload rofl.

Losing streaks happen, and the game’s matchmaking system is currently forcing you into one. Just keep playing until you start winning again.

I managed to get from low gold, bordering silver, back to low plat after being stuck in gold for three or so seasons. If a console goob like me can do it, I believe you can too

Wait for ‘looking for group’ to go live, things should hopefully improve then. I’m waiting for it, just hoping that there will be plenty of groups available to join which don’t all require everyone to have a microphone but actually have a mixture of non-mic and mic players.

Not sure if it’s completely right in this topic, but people allways tend to say: You climb easily if you are 2 or 3 elos higher, is that really true? this means in comon sense, that you climb out of any Tier, thats 2-3 Tiers below you. therefore, someone stuck in gold, should actually be able to get into diamond? This would make sense in terms of Silver players compaining about theyr comp. (If theyr real Rank might be Gold or Platinum, and they only get srewed over by the bad comp?)

As I played since Season 1 and got often Placed in silver (even once in Season 4 in bronze)and since Season 9 I’m a Platinum player. I played a lot of tracer (as it’s my favourite hero) And managed to climb. But I don’t say I climbed everything on my own, there was once a winston main in silver which was Amazing. He told the team what he’s going to do, like “I dive Mercy now”, “Cyborg ninja in our back” He was one of the best tanks I ever had on my team during comp. Now while playing in plat (I never play a insane amount of comp, just placements and then some games) But I never had such a nice tank player again, also the team comps don’t have changed since silver, yeah theres this one guy which WILL play tank atleast  But I only saw better enemies, like switching to counter me or a good teammate.

To wrap it up: Is it really true that you can’t climb unless you’re 2-3 tiers higher? (solo queue) I guess with the new LFG system it shouldn’t be a problem to manage a Dive comp oir Tripple support (As I said, Played on silver/gold most of my time) Nobody was able to pull of dive, somehow winston was barely even played in the Low Elo’s (atleast in my games.)
(I know Dive was up for so long, but I never managed to play something thats even close to be considered dive, Instead of just me on tracer Diving in solo, and trying to take down the mercy and recall to safety)

No. If you fall it’s your own fault. The same things are happening to opposing players.

Climbing in this game is incredibly difficult because of how SR is calculated. You gain less than you lose, so you need a win percentage at roughly 52-54% to actually manage to climb. So if you’re at 50% you’re basically going to be stuck at around the same level for eternity on end, because you’ll always negate what you gain.

I hope that LFG will make it easier to climb. At the moment it’s not worth the frustration of trying to climb.

The moment I reached 80% win rate as Moira, I bailed out.

I learned the hard way the past seasons. The moment the streak hit 27 wins 2 defeats as Moira, the system decided to turn against me for the sake of the ‘50-50 chances of win’ thing it has.

As if a support with a high rate or any rate has the power to carry games like a dps or tank does. Lose streaks happened because the game pairs you with weaker links for the sake of balance.

I will pick the game again once new season starts so my fresh start will begin in Diamond, not like I aim higher but still.

There he is, the elitist running out of hiding to tell us all that if we can’t win a 1v6 fight then we belong in whatever rank we’re in. Every post like this has at least one person who thinks they’re far superior to everyone else and that we deserve to be where we are because we can’t win a 1v6.

Idk. I solo queue every single game and I hit a career high on my alt account this season. I don’t think it is “hopeless”, I think you had bad luck.

Yeah OW is a weird game. It’s a Team based game with a solo based ranking system. Your team decides if you win or lose more than anything, it takes 6 people working together to do well but only one leaver/thrower to cause you all to lose.

Even if you win though your SR gain is based on “performance stats” which means unless you try hard to boost those, even at the cost of losing the match, you might not gain much SR and lose a ton if you lost. If you stay on the objective pushing the payload while the rest of your team chases kills you might only gain a lousy 15 Sr for a win because of the low stats.

On the other hand if you ignore the point and rake up tons of kills, dmg, heals etc You can get 30+ Sr. It’s a very poor system, it rewards players for stats that have nothing about playing the objective or being a team based game, but again cares f you win or lose as a team.

It won’t. It will probably increase match quality, but it will not make it any easier to climb. It’s going to try and match premades with premades so, any benefit you got from using it, the team you are matched against will also have.

If you were hoping to use it to climb easier, no dice. If you just want the game matches to be better, then it’s a go!

That or I understand how math works. :man_shrugging:

You should try flexing Dva or Hog.
You get the same impact as a dps all while having the health pool and utility to enforce where the frontline is.

I’m a Cree main normally but I’ve had more luck flexing onto D.va than filling for supports or other tanks this season.

Tell me about it. I went up to 1996 just to drop down to 1500 several times in this season.
It is really disappointing climbing with hard work just to have it followed by a losing streak of steamrolls cuz the game felt like you have more than 50% winrate.

No wonder why ppl are leaving. If the LFG system doesn’t make the things better, expect more ppl to quit.

You are not carrying unless you actually win.

Shout out to my boy, Tom Hanks.
