Yes, greatly reduce the matchmaking pool for yourself in a game that is already hurting for players.

One thing is accidentally having softwares that DO put overlays and get into game files marked as cheat engines even if they arent. Specially after updates that add functions or just some lines of code that should not be there.
Another very different thing is hardware detecting other hardware that poses no issue so far in dozens of titles across all consoles.
Hell, some consoles are capable of detecting if you plugged in a brand peripheral accessory or not. Nintendo is specially good at this.
Before getting paranoid and despondent over a single word, research how both cases actually work because so far you have done nothing but ambiguously whine about words that scare you.

What I hope is K&M support, and adding ximm to that group (which, lets be honest, would kill people actually using ximm).

The real question is direct M&K support going to happen, given they didnāt talk about it, likely not, which honestly is a shame. But, who knows.

it would be easy enough to pick it up server side statistically from the inputs

Nah I think it is about to drop next season. Back channels say they have it working, it is tying into other systems is happening.
I wasnāt surprised as it was only a matter of time. The genius of exploiting digital security moves only slightly faster than digital security itself with most things that are massively abused continue to be exploited because they are behind-the-times/lazy.
If new software is able to detect the way that XIMs and other hardware mimics work, it shouldnāt surprise anyone. The only thing that shocks me is Overwatch/Blizzard actually doing anything about it.
After everyone else has already turned into into an art form.

Iād also would like to add that if ACTIVISION can do something about this, a company that I absolutely label as a failure in almost everything they attempt, thatās even more sad for Blizzardās end. Especially since they are related by blood at this point.

That i can say will never happenā¦ because the players who would still choose to use a controller would have meltdowns because āits unfairā to them
Other games have done it, but they end up in the PC groups.

Had a 4top (3 consoles) the other dayā¦ played hammer only torb, the enture match, no turret, no rivetgunā¦ only hammer and overloadā¦
Surprisingly kept up with damageā¦ and only won because the match was heavily stackedā¦
So its not an adequacy issueā¦ its more about wanting even matches.
