Looks like they are about to roll out ximming detection, and have some policy around it.
Have fun everyone!

Now, what we don’t know is if they will detect it, and turn off aim assist, and push them into the PC pool - which is what I expect they will do.

Consoles should just have keyboard and mouse add ons with aim assist turned off when used. I’m a PC player, but this seems like nonsense to me. A players input preference should be just that.
Someone on PC could have a high end graphics card paired with a high refresh rate monitor while another one might be on an old 1060 with a 60Hz monitor. Do we punish the player with the better hardware? Of course not.

Was there a tweet or blog post about it or something?
Glad to hear, though. Console players deserve a fair playing field.

If they add KB+M support on console (which I’m 100% in favor of), they need to change the player pools from platform->Input. Console with KB+M should be playing against PC players.

Nah just somone ODing on copeium…
There is no way to remotely detect use of a xim… all the console and server see is controler inputs…
So basically detection is witch hunting… meaning somones whos capable with a controller is just as likely to get flagged as someone actually using one…
Or blizzard is just trying to create a false sense of security for console players…
Kinda hoping for the witch hunting system myself… just to see how long it takes for someone to get falsely flagged…

If they do that I will roll around in the mud and pig squeal. That being said, I am not holding out hope that I will be able to roleplay as Will Ramos any time soon.

I find it hilarious that Age of Empires 2 can implement this but OW cant.

That’s awesome if true and I’d like to know the specifics on how they found the means to detect Xim.

If Blizzard was really just witch hunting and only interested in spreading fear to deter XIM users or soothe controller players what took them so long? Couldn’t they have just done those things years earlier?

Consoles have always been able to detect what you plug into them. For example Age of Empires 2 in XBox detects whatever or not you have KBM connected or not and changes your HUD accordingly (controller HUD comes with a lot of auto-economy features that make a RTS playable with controller).
OW just never cared because console has always been a tertiary market for Blizzard.

Read it and weap.
I bring sources, and other games have been doing ximm detection for some time now.

Its not about spreading fear for those that use them…
Its about giving those who dont a false sense of security…
Its no different than the purpose of the anti-cheat

You are literally wrong.
Several games do it already. Blizz never gave a crap about it because dont care about console.

Well, the reason I asked is because the whole point of why XIM was scary was because it could lie that it was just a normal official controller and thus undetectable.
So knowing why that wont be the case anymore is big.

              This is the optimal solution…
But i promise you it wont happen… because those who choose to use controlers would throw tantrums that is unfair to them because they chose to use a controller

umm the devs can see what the refresh rate on a players settings as the game defaults to 60 fps unless changed…idk why it defaults to 60 automatically

The console can always detect it, the issue has always been games not being coded in any way to punish or even take into account the console detecting it.
Thats why consoles can detect that an external storage device IS an external storage device in the first place.
Age of Empires 2 launched on Xbox recently and to avoid people just playing with KBM AND the easier controller set-up, they literally just coded an automatic switch based on the console auto-detecting.
