Xbox Series X|S players cannot join Xbox One players

This also goes both ways, just couldnt fit it into the title.

The error given for Xbox Series X|S players is:
Sorry, you can’t join this game session
You need the Xbox One version of the game to join this game session. (0x87e1001a)
And vice versa for Xbox One players.

This is a new bug since I was able to play with my friends just yesterday and now cannot due to this. Please get back to me with any information, many thanks.

Same issue. Was working fine yesterday, today it isn’t. Don’t know if the issue is on the Xbox side or Blizzard side, but I did notice that my battle.net friends were not loading into the social menu in game, but my Xbox friends were.

Same… I’m on Xbox one, and my friend is on Series X. We just played together a few days ago, no problem. Now it errors saying “Can’t join player, they’re on Series X/S”

Exact same problem. Played with one friend earlier on pc and NOONE was online even though the login text said ‘three friends playing overwatch’. After a few hours being off overwatch, I go on the Xbox and bam, cant join xbox 1 friend’s party, but can join his game. So confused as it worked yesterday.

I’m on Xbox Series X and having the same issue. My buddy plays on the Xbox One. We were playing together and all of the sudden he got kicked. When we invited him back he got the same error. Tried having him host and couldn’t join saying “You have to have the Xbox One version of the game.” Frustrating
