Xbox Series X low frame rate

Having the exact same issue as well in 120fps performance mode, have tried all the “workarounds” suggested in this thread and like everyone else I’m still not having any luck with fixing it. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling overwatch 2 after the latest season dropped and still no joy! Well done for highlighting this issue and trying to get them to take notice.

This seems almost like a heat issue with the Series X. Where it’s fine until things get heated up inside then clocks itself down.

I don’t think it’s an overheating problem on serie x, I’ll run more demanding games such as hogwarts legacy, cyberpunk and in fps halo infinite without overheating problem or even fps drops
is even playing overwatch 2 the console does not heat up as long as its I really think that the problem does not come from our series x

Nah bro not a heat issue at all. You can play overwatch 2 for 10 hours without restarting while having low fps and stutter, and the moment you close the game and reopen it even after 10 hours it will go back to a buttery smooth 120fps first match. Has nothing to do with the performance or heat of the series x. I play warzone 2 at 120fps with 120fov and vrr and the game never drops below 110-115fps and stays at 120 most of the time. It’s a game bug 100%

Yea nothing can fix it on our end except restarting the game after you start noticing the stutters and drops. Hope they fix this soon

Well, the first thing you said does make it sound like heat. If you get buttery smooth performance for a short amount of time, and then it dips and stays there, that means the console/components heated up to it’s max threshold before kicking into thermal throttling mode.

Also, other games not causing the issue could simply be the way the game is designed too. Ex: Cyberpunk might push the GPU to it’s max, but not do a ton with the CPU. Where OW might be pushing the CPU for it’s visuals way more than the GPU since it’s programmed to run on toasters for every version of the game (base xb1 for example and low end PC’s).

So it could be a bug. If literally every single person has that issue with their Series X then it probably is. But if it’s only a few people, then it’s possibly thermals still.

I have tried it on three Xbox series x systems it’s a bug and a bad one not a system overheating it’s a bug and it needs to be fixed friends also complain about it constantly 120fps few games then drops restart game back to normal rinse and repeat

No bro what i said proves the exact oppostite. If you play a game for 5 hours and your console is heated now. You close the game and reopen it and your back to perfect performance but the console is still on a 5 hour run. Does that make it a heat problem? Obv no. 100% a game bug every xbox user has it we already know its a bug the problem is when will they fix it.

That’s not how it works. You close the game, everything cools down. It does not take 5 hours to heat up to max temps where you hit thermal throttles. It takes a very short amount of time to get up to temps that can cause thermal throttling. Build a PC and do thermal testing and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

This is also a common issue with a lot of console. I repair/maintain/update them as a hobby. The XB1X specifically had this issue as the thermal paste used only lasted about 1.5 years and once it turned to chalk people started getting similar overheating issues. At first, the consoles fans would go into vacuum screaming mode and eventually not even that would keep up and you’d start getting frame drops and stutters after a while. You had to pull the XB1X apart, replace the thermal paste and all was well after that.

So this was not just a problem with a console, it was a problem with MS’s most recent console prior to the Series S/X.

Bruh it’s a console bug not an overheating problem LOL… I have 5 friends that play and complain I’ve tested it on 5 different series x systems it’s not an overheating issue…. It’s a bug that’s not fixed most people don’t play at the higher framerate prolly or don’t relieze it’s dropping but it does and it’s bad let’s just get it fixed that would be great…

“Bruh”, I was talking about how it could have been thermals based on the description and how it was acting. Not that it is thermals. I talked about that above and noted that it’s probably a bug if it’s just this one game causing the issue (and many other games have been tested).

Forsure I see you were replying to someone else and yeah no other game is showing that behavior just ow2

Do devs and testers not play the game are they that blind to not notice huge massive frame drops lol that is what is annoying it’s been a issue since launch and nothing on it complete udder laziness… how many support tickets do we have to put in to get even a response

I’m tired to check every patch notes and see that’s nothing has been fixed in this direction. Can you Blizzard finally fix your buggy and laggy game? Everything was very smooth in Overwatch 1…

P.S. I’m playing on Xbox Series S

Can anyone confirm if it’s been fixed? Hoping it’s stealth fixed

How this bug is not a priority for Blizard to fix?
It really ruins the gameplay. I stopped playing the game because every time I play and this bug happen it makes it impossible to aim well.

Its literally a bug that happens after exactly 3 matches of overwatch. You restart back to perfect performance. 3 games back to the bug. Its not a therma paste-heat-console issue its a bug affecting every single overwatch player since the beta

Just updated the new patch and the bug is still there. Not fixed

I dont have to build a pc just use any human brain when you run every xbox game perfectly and only this one game with issues and once you restart it it goes back to perfect performance that makes it a game issue not a console issue. Plus this is overwatch we are talking about one of the least demanding games available now. Pc literally runs it at 500-600fps so nothing the xbox or ps cant handle

On Series S here, this problem is infuriating. I’m glad to see there’s a war effort here I can join.
