Xbox controller problem

My Xbox Series X controller (being used in conjunction with the series X) doesn’t register in game even thought I can use the Xbox main menu.

Recently I moved over to playing overwatch on the Series X and every now and then voice chat doesn’t allow me to speak. So a solution to the voice chat problem that’s worked for me is to turn my controller off and then on again and then voice chat allows me to speak and be heard.

But twice now when I reconnect the controller to the Series X, after doing the above, Overwatch doesn’t register the controller as connected. I can use the Xbox home button, I can go to other apps but overwatch just continues to display the “connect controller” prompt. Both of these times have resulted in my getting booted from a competitive game and getting two bans.

I have used this solution on the Xbox One X MANY times and never once came across this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated; either in reconnecting the controller in match so I avoid a ban or a solution for the problem altogether.

If its possible, try to contact microsoft support (im an ambassador over there and you will find much better help there). For a solution that might work, try connecting your controller to your xbox via a USB.

It’s worth a shot at least

Overwatch does the exact same thing on my console except I toggle mic on/off again then it works. Plugged into my series x competitive match started but connection lost & banned.
