Xbox “Please reconnect the Xbox One Wireless Controller” wont go away once reconnected

This is on Series X, by the way, though it functions the same as Xbox One when it comes to Overwatch.

Whenever I change my batteries or my controller disconnects, reconnecting it does absolutely nothing and this message continues to display. This makes it so you can’t move at all, so you’ll get kicked in the middle of games. I hate how half the developers I know of are optimizing their games for the new generation of consoles, while Overwatch is not only not optimized for the new consoles, but also has no news of whether or not Overwatch 2 will be specifically on the new ones or on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Half the game breaking bugs aren’t being fixed either. Like the avoid as teammate bug, where you can’t avoid players who are on your Xbox blocked players list because they’re considered “friends”.

I want to chime in and say I’ve been having this issue on Series X as well.

I’m having this issue too. What then happens is I’m kicked out of a quickly play or competitive match and loose all my endorsement level or I’m suspended from competitive play. Feels kind of hopeless and not even worth my time to try and earn my endorsement level back or to do competitive matches. This is nearly game breaking for me.

Also has this same issue with my Series S. I kept disconnect and reconnecting my controller and nothing.
And now I’m suspended from competitive because of Overwatch’s own bug. Thanks.

Made an account just to reply to this because it’s gotten annoying.

Yep, have had this issue on my Series X ever since I got it back in December. This is much worse than the game’s inability to reconnect a wireless headset, a bug that’s been around for about a year now, do I don’t have hopes that Blizzard will address this one either.

Just chiming in that this bug is still a problem, I try to swap out my batteries between rounds then I have to restart my game and hope I rejoin in time

Bumping this one too, I know you guys are busy with OW2 we understand. Just acknowledging it shows us you hear is all. This bug as made very clear above, completely screws you

This issue screws me over at least once a day. However on my elite controller, It will just say ‘reconnect the controller’ when the controller is working fine. Ill be effectively kicked out of the game.

Just received an 8 hour suspension because it happened to me TWICE in a day.

Wait times to join a comp game are always in excess of 15minutes which is the threshold for the controller automatically shutting off, and thus, Overwatch can no longer realize the controller is connected. I am beyond mad at Blizzard

Yes I have this issue as well, only on the new XBox series x, did not do this on Xbox one.
