What makes me and the majority of the community angry and sad is the nostalgia of what Overwatch used to be, compared to this version of the game.
I quit many months ago, not because I had any issues climbing ranked, all 5 of my accounts are GM1 on DPS and Support, but because it’s not fun. I don’t want to play with boosted players some games and then real GMs the next. I want some consistency in the players performance and I don’t think that can happen in this version of OW MM.

That’s what fuels a lot of the forum post. Pining for a love lost, that doesn’t want you back.
A lot of the nostalgia is rose tinted too. Inconvenient truth, whether you like 5v5, or think the current way ranks and progress is displayed sucks… The games probably healthier now than it ever was. Just what makes it healthier, the forums don’t like (probably for not fitting the everythings terrible narrative)
Now, hopefully the changes to the ranked feedback placebo cure a load of issues for people. We shall see.

I think a player who spent 10+ hours a week playing OW since 2016… to barely playing in OW2, then to quitting the game…
That’s no rose tinted glasses. This describes a situation where players are not enjoying the game as much as OW1, when OW2 came out they tried to hang on and then quit.
I think many of us are in the same boat here and are unhappy with the state of the game.

The ranking system makes no sense. I’ve had instances where I’ll have 5 wins and 6-7 losses and rank up. i’ll then have instances where I go 5 wins and a loss and don’t rank up when just dominating:
20-0: W
59-1: W
24-1: W
37-2: W
55-2: W
26-2: L
Game makes no sense at all.

I played overwatch Since launch and half the competitive games before were autolose because your team picked 4 dps.
I remember goats being meta for like 2 years which was pure cancer and the best designed hero’s in the game like tracer being in the gutter and unplayable.
I had more fun back then because you could actually communicate without getting banned but now i cant say anything since the soviets took over blizzard.
But overall rose tinted spectacles.
Played since beta. I’ve always been a healer main, so while I get that most of them were losses - mostly because for some reason people who would only play DPS were frequently terrible DPS - I actually had quite a few games that were a blast and even wins with 4 DPS and me healing.
I miss the ability to play however we wanted, I think games were more interesting and more challenging in a way that was at least a possible win. I’m not asking for wins, I’m asking that things are balanced in a way that a win is possible. Not one team never leaving spawn as a standard game. Even win I’m on the team rolling - its not fun.
I’d argue 4 dps was still more winnable and less of a crap experience than playing smurfs and the current terrible state of matchmaking.
The funny thing about tanks - they were iike, no one wants to play them so lets fix that and for some reason though that part of that was…to make them more integral? Having a terrible tank now is worse than it used to be, AND so many of them are bad because they’re new or playing it like DPS and not tanking. Most tanks just spend the game feeding then complaining about heals lately. One of the recent memorable ones kept feeding, dying and then complaining ‘but I do so much dmg’. It was like, a) you’re not doing much dmg, b) you’re not killing anything, and dmg means f all if you don’t kill anything and c) you’re the tank and you’re not tanking, you’re running out of los instantly to go die alone.
I think the fact that I’m the last of anyone I know IRL who plays, when it used to be like 20 people says its not just that.
Even the people I’ve met online in the game since don’t play anymore.
The guy I was most recently playing with…has gone back to Runescape.
The state of this game is sadly silly.
