my account was permanently banned for allegedly using cheats, which is completely false. I have never used, installed, or even considered using any cheats or unauthorized tools. I’ve been a long-time, loyal player who has always followed the rules, and this ban came as a complete shock.
I already submitted multiple support tickets, but all I received was a generic response without any specific information about what I supposedly did wrong. I’ve done nothing to deserve this, and it feels deeply unfair and heartbreaking.
The customer support also completely ignored my request of my right to information in accordance with Article 15 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). I have no information other than “used Cheats” about what I supposedly did wrong or what exactly was found that triggered this false positive.
I’m kindly asking for a real human being to look into my case and conduct a proper review. If a mistake has been made, I hope it can be corrected. I’ve put so much time, love, and care into this game and my account for almost 10 years now, and this situation is incredibly upsetting.
So this is how loyal customers are treated after playing Blizzard games for almost 20 years? I have never been banned in any online or Blizzard game, not even a single penalty. Then I play two Quick Play matches and suddenly get permanently banned while being innocent? Thanks for nothing, I guess.
Please, Blizzard team, I just want clarity and fairness.
No, I do not have any cheats, hacks, mods or anything installed for other games. I also don’t have Razer Synapse, that seems to trigger false positives for some people too.
I had some app installed (EXPERTool) to disable the light on my PC because it was bothering me, but I deinstalled it now after what happened, because it seems this app could potentially trigger false positives too.
And in my last 2 Quick Play matches I just played Juno, but why does this matter at all? >.<
The GM from the customer support also said that it was reviewed again and that the ban remains because I allegedly “violated accepted terms of use”, tho I doubt that it was really manually reviewed again or the review just displayed the same false positive again, I don’t know… All I know is that I never cheated or used any third party software at all and I’m not the only one that got innocently banned for alleged cheating.
Did you regularly duo with anyone? Blizz has implemented a rule that repeatedly regularly grouping with a cheater can result in being banned even if you’ve never personally cheated.
Otherwise your only option is to continue re-submitting tickets until you get through to a person. Unfortunately the customer support is notoriously terrible so you might be at it for a while.
I see, but no I’ve been playing basically solo for years now, at least like 99% of the time. The last time I played a few matches with a friend is many weeks ago, but I doubt that it has anything to do with it and I highly doubt that this friend is or was cheating. I was being banned yesterday right after the second solo Quick Play match ended.
I completely disabled the chat too, not long after OW2 came out, because I was tired of being sexually insulted and that I should “kms” … So I never write there.
And I doubt that I got mass reported. At least that would be totally random out of nowhere.
So far only the same GM answered to my tickets with generic responses and not really being helpful or communicative at all. I specifically asked for someone else to look at my case in my last ticket.
Yeah good luck getting an actual human to respond to your tickets, also be careful sending in responses hoping for a response that isn’t copy and pasted because they will suspend your actual Battle net account for “abusing” the ticket system, its funny because how is it abusing the system if an actual human won’t respond only AI and copy and paste responses.
I don’t think they even have actual human beings responding to online support tickets. I’ve sent in multiple tickets with only copy and pasted responses and then a suspension to my Battle.Net account with a copy and pasted response saying
" We would like to make it clear that the resolutions you’ve received will be the only one we can offer as a business. While we understand, and welcome, additional contacts that further clarify a situation, there comes a point where the outcome we’re providing is the correct one for us as a game studio. At this point in time, we’d like to make it clear that we will not be able to offer a different solution. Continuing to submit tickets appealing this decision may result in additional penalties being applied to your account, up to and including account termination."
and yeah this was a copy and pasted response I got like 5 times.
Because currently, in Stadium, Kiriko can make clones, and those will get kills. And that’s an AI, so it aimbots. So some players got unfairly banned because of other players reported them for aimbotting, mistaking the clone for the kiriko player.
But if you didn’t play Kiriko in stadium, it won’t help you.
Did you play Mercy with your Duo in Ranked? Because in the report menu, “Boosting” falls under the cheating category nowadays, and some players report Duos for Boosting when they’re getting rolled, and I’d imagine this may happen more often for Mercys.
Blizzard’s main banwave has been over the whole Razer Synapse thing. as well as other input device software. Your best bet is to check and see what you have for keyboard and mouse software. Remove it and start over.
The Civil Process:
The reason I encourage the civil process is because I want peace, not violence. I think blizzard and the consumer should both come to a mutual and peaceful agreement that when they enforce their codes. They need to be unbiased, fair, and straight forward.
What you could do:
I would certainly keep asking blizzard as to what you did that got you banned, if you have spent money on your account.
If they don’t want to reply by the fourth ticket, and you have receipts. Do what everyone else has to do which is approach the civil system and file a consumer complaint against them through the United States FTC and the Attorney General’s office either in Washington (regarding to Microsoft owning blizzard) or the California Attorney general’s office.
Conditionally, blizzard has the right to ban anyone they deem to. but if they are handed money and they aren’t willing to explain themselves, you are free to lodge the complaint. It probably would be under FRAUD or a form of consumer deception.
I wouldn’t take anyone’s advice here that says “you cant do that” because you can.
Businesses and their cleverly worded TOAs are not immune to consumer disputes. Just the same as they wouldn’t like it if they bought a star bucks coffee at the coffee shop and the owner tossed them out of the shop without handing them their cup of coffee that they just paid for.
Something along the lines of asking what you did that was considered cheating so you never do it again. or asking for the log files and proof that you supposedly cheated and that they have a concrete case against you that could not be held up against you in a legal trial. and that they please present the evidence that is clear, and beyond the reason of a doubt that you cheated.
If they aren’t willing to provide it. Than its a solid complaint to send off to their guvna’s office that they are practicing deceptive consumer practices.
First time, huh? Welcome to the club. Here’s our table for outsiders in the shadows. Have a seat and make yourself at home.
Seriously, it couldn’t have been a coincidence that so many posts about cheaters appeared recently. People agree that they report everything in their sight and posts like yours and mine begin to appear from time to time.
I understand you and do what I do - stay calm and keep sending tickets.
Mine was reviewed as well after sending 9 tickets, and they confirmed their previous decision. The funny thing is that my fourth account, (previous three, including this one, were banned too), was banned six days ago and then unbanned after twenty minutes with apologies. I told people about false reports and how it abuses the game, but I guess most of us will understand that by then, when most of them will have been banned and quit the game.
It’s only been five days. It will take more time than that, but I had seen unbanned players. OP will be fine. I’m sure of it. Maybe not in the next few days, but there will be an unban if they continue to send tickets and do it with breaks.
I wrote a few tickets overall, it didn’t take long until their only response was “This penalty has already been upheld. Any further requests on this topic will not be reviewed.”.
Yesterday I got the exact same answer as you “We would like to make it clear that the resolutions you’ve received will be the only one we can offer as a business. […]” and a warning that continuing writing tickets in that regard can result in account termination.
Well, Blizzard made it very clear that they do not want or value me as a player or a customer. They made a mistake and the support isn’t helpful at all and won’t fix it. I don’t think there’s a chance for me to get my account back and I’m actually really tired of this company at this point.
This has happened to me before, and I am only guessing from your player icon that you play Mercy. Well, I main Mercy and get reported all the time just for existing, or not hard pocketing someone, or for not picking someone else, etc etc etc.
I even had people saying in match chat they are reporting me for cheating because my flying abilities were too insane for them to believe were really human (they are…)
Keep sending tickets and ask for a Game Master to review, and they will introduce themselves as Game Master XYZ. Though once one does reply, that’s a real human so if they give you an answer you don’t like, you’re just going to have to live with it.
