Why did they nerf him even more? The experimental Reaper was already worse against tanks and better against short hitbox targets. And now the nerfed him even more, a hero that already was one of the worst ones in live and one that would have deserved a real buff and not some “rebalancing”.
The exp. Reaper was at least at a little bit better but the new one is bad against anything. He still gets completly destroyed by meccree, widow and hanzo. The big difference is that he now sucks against tanks as well.
Thanks for making another f-tier hero worse. They next changes will probably be more direct buffs to hitscans and hanzo.
which is just not true, his headshot is much easier to land now, back then in order to even get consistent headshot damage you needed to be kissing distance
this a very high increase in his skill ceiling, especially dueling dps where at 10m ranges he can 2 tap headshot most squishies right now
he gets more consistent burst at the cost of sacrificing his insane close range tank busting
which was already outdated and very easy to stop
the people complaining about his close range are the same low rank players trying out reaper playing him incorrectly and crying that some of his basic value things don’t work
he doesn’t run up to tanks, that is completely dumb and won’t get you far on the hero, its why he was pretty bad for a while, they gave him much better solo dueling capabilties and more consistent damage
that adds to his skill ceiling, makes him better in high ranks, while making him less of the noob tank busting stomper in low ranks, thats a good change in my book
Better against tracer now, can get into position to punish a dps. His life steal is a more active factor that every hero has to consider when engaging him, not just tanks or when you get a one shot.
That’s not to say it’s definitely a straight buff or anything. He might be worse overall. I don’t heckin know. It’s a 25% spread reduction
And what are the counters of those heroes? Reaper needs to switch in the moment a decent hanzo or meccree shows up on the enemy team. Hard counters like that should not be a thing.
He doesnt counter winston/hog anymore but isnt much better against dps and supports. Thats called a nerf and Reaper is the last hero that needed one.
So reaper players like spirit, who is one of the best and probably only people who play him in the high ranks. Everyone who actually knows something about reaper sees that it’s a nerf. Only people that don’t like him or are bad think it’s a buff.
I agree with you on million (no… BILLION) percent!!! Reaper always were a close-range character. His main function were to eliminate tanks and sitting Bastion.
He was weak because of long teleportation, non-reloaded shotguns after WRAITH FORM and impossibleness of teleport in falling. In early 2020 he was finally patched to reload and teleport properly.
This game has enough roles to play on mid- and log-range. And many dps-players pick snipers or hitscans because of game classification as “shooter” of Widow’s… sitting point. Let’s call it like that. And Reaper was the choice to kill tanks (for example - very agressive Winston who jumped in your team). He had big amount of damage but at the same time he had to get face-to-face combat and use his wrath form to escape or reload if he almost won the fight.
Reaper could be countered by literally EVERY SINGLE HERO!!! Even baby-D’va or Mercy. His ultimate cound be interupted by many controlling abillities. Now developers made this character non-playable hero.
They decreased his damage from 8 to 5.5 dps, which decreased damage on 31.25%! 31.25% CARL!!!
Yes, they made his scatter less, but on mid-range most of his bullets not gonna end in the target because most of the characters are thin. Except a couple of tanks. And that makes Reaper damager with LOWEST damage on mid-range.
Previously Hammond in fight could be killed with 5-10 shots depending on his shields and health amount. And now - he just lives. Reaper is countered by every tank he previously countered himself.
And shotguns were meant to be on close range. If that patch were made only for newbies who can’t properly use his wrath form and waste it on fight and not on escaping if they lose - that’s their problem. They should learn how to play. But no with price of playabillity of this hero.
Why they could not leave damage then? Or give him rifle as Soldier has? Or rework him?
He was perfectly balanced for MORE THAN YEAR on every rank! And at the same time we have never-nerfed-Tracer and Echo with one nerf of her beam (they lowered the distance of beam) what makes her very OP.
Why Reaper-mains now should switch their favourite hero because of bad patch and main someone else? Weren’t they suppose to play whoever they like and not because of developers wish?
