For the first time since OW2 started I can say he actually resembles a tank. Has a shield, his abilities protect or buff allies, his ult gives shields, it’s almost like this is what he should’ve been from the start. I honestly don’t even register I have him in my hero pool as a tank main, that’s how little I consider him a tank in the main game, but this meme arcade mode? He’s feels fine. Sure, maybe the shield would have to be a bit smaller
I have a better solution. Don’t turn doom into another “samey” braindead tank design where he’s just another shield guy or another guy who presses a button and just gives his team shields / overhealth. That would murder the hero.
Move him back to DPS. The entire reason they moved him to the tank role is non existent. They moved him there because of his CC only to:
- Remove all of his CC
- Introduce venture… a CCing DPS hero
DPS Doom would only be comparable to Venture if they doubled his cooldowns, removed the stun on his punch, and halved the height of his uppercut.
Their cc doesn’t even compare
It’s crazy how oppressive he is in a mode where he has virtually no counters. He’s eating so well in this experiment and abusing lobbies while doing so.
Idk. I feel like people have rose colored glasses when they look at doom and sombra and forget the problems that team granted overhealth gave us. We went through this before in beta with joats.
And then buffed him to be a good hero. Venture is less frustrating than doom, but is actually pretty strong, which is why they are receiving a lot of complaints.
He is absolutely great.
I was just hoping for a shield on him but that he gets his overhealth while using his abilities is 10/10.
If they put him in the regular game like this, he would become a top tank in the span of a week. I like when tanks feel like actual tanks.
OverWatch players discovering that a tank needs to feel like a tank in order to have the role played.

They could’ve reduced doom’s CC. The point is they moved doom because of his CC… just to remove all of his CC anyway. It was completely pointless.
CC is CC. It does not matter how strong it is when we’re talking about blizzard’s design philosophy going in to ow2 being “We want tanks to have the CC abilities”.
Doom wouldn’t need his cooldowns increased because they aren’t the same hero. Doom is bigger than venture, and simply more vulnerable. Even if you decreased his size down to ow1 dps doom size, he was STILL the size of a tank back then.

Removing the stun from punch would be enough. Uppercut lost it’s movement lockout years ago.
You like when tank feel like High HP/mitigation High Damage. In other words. A DPS with all the tankyness of a tank.
I 100% agree. Mirrowatch doom feel like a real tank and live Doom feels like the devs don’t want you to play him.
What makes him feel like a tank? Because from what I have seen he just jumps into the backline, takes out the backline, then jumps away alive and well.
I would be ok with high hp / mitigation. Similar to how it’s in WoW where you either mitigate damage with spells or heal yourself back up but your damage isn’t all that high.
Mirrorwatch Doom is fun, but he most definitely should not be like this in the regular modes.
??? He has AOE stuns on a 4 second cooldown, a slow on his slam and a massive slow on his ult which should be netting him a free kill any time he uses it without a tank being in the way. And his main CD gets a bigger aoe, stun timer and damage when he’s empowered, which became even easier to keep this season.
Don’t forget they just started re-adding or buffing CC every other patch, so…
The last time I fought him he is played just like a bigger DPS without that cheap 1 shoot
Crazy how tanks only ever feel like tanks when they have barriers in this game. Considering we only have 1 tank in the game, a barrier makes such a huge difference. Things would have been different for tanks if we had 6v6 but since thats bot gonna happen, maybe its time blizzard realizes all tanks should have some form of barrier to protect their team. There is a reason junker queen, zarya, hog aren’t meta. The only one that can compete without barriers is orisa and thats only because she becomes impossible to kill with fortify and her spear and spin are actually good at fending off flankers and pushing off enemy tanks.
