Would you buy a subsciption to get Premium coins, for $0.01?

For almost free. Continuously. With only 4 minor strings attached.

As a reasonable person, you’d ask, what are those two strings & Are they reasonable? What’s the catch?

Yes they are, and let me show you:

The Catch #1
This would have to be purchased through Blizzard directly, not other retailers. For logistics and profitability.

The Catch #2
You would have to allow Blizzard to remember your credit card information. To Tempt you, with the seamless possibility of In-game Microtransaction purchases.

The Catch #3
You have to collect these Premium coins, every week. Maybe even a minor amount every day. Or even an account for ranking up, or hero mastery. Or other achievements.

The Catch #4
The main button to collect those OWL coins, is inside the In-Game Store frontpage. Tempting you, to make a purchase. And you’re thinking, about making a purchase. And you’re ready, to make a purchase.

Personally, I think all of those tradeoffs are pretty reasonable. It costs you next to nothing.
But in return you get coins which can be used for premium skin purchases, or the battlepass. It could even give the devs a tool to incentivize better in-game player behavior.

All you gotta do, is just gotta sign a tiny contract that makes that profitable, for everybody.

So.

Would you buy a subsciption to get Premium coins, for $0.01?

How many premium coins? 1 cent doesn’t seem like it would give you very many. However, if it’s one of those mobile game daily sign-in bonuses, I would buy it without regrets. Technically, I’m getting more coins for my money, so it’s basically free.

I think they made a game about this.

I’ll be 100% honest, I still don’t actually know what premium coins get me. I’ve never paid attention to that stuff.

owl coins likely wouldnt exist soon and plus what if someone was using a temporary card and forgot to change it like the debit card i have now should no longer be usable after next month as a express card despite what its stamped they issue a new card with your name on it in december…ive had more than one debit card replaced

A subscription of $0.01?, how long the subscription last? I don’t think it would last 30 days. How many coins you get in 1 subscription time (30 days)?.

I play a MMORPG (best in the world), and it’s basically F2P but you can pay a subscription for in game-services, it’s worth it (not things like lvl or P2W), and 30 days there cost about $3.93 (in my currency, Perú).

Wait, you guys don’t already do this? How did you buy the game initially?

Ideally the subscription would last until Overwatch stops existing.

As for the amount, I don’t know. Whatever is enticing enough.

Yup, it’s absolutely a mobile game technique. But did you know

  1. ActivisionBlizzardKing was the world’s largest mobile games publisher (outside of China)
  2. Half of all CoD players are on mobile.
  3. Mobile makes a ridiculous amount of money.

Lmao I won’t be spending a dime on anything blizzard, forever, until they bring my OG Sombra back

They even revoked & refunded my Diablo 4 because I got in on the price error and then never re-bought it

The most bought item is of course, the BP, the only thing I don’t consider OVERpriced in this game, barely.

A season lasts 9 weeks, that’s 63 days, and if people always buy the BP, you are paying always $10 every 9 weeks (well, you can farm 540 coins for free with the weeklys and I think that has an impact, but let’s not consider the coins from weeklys), so, the subscription should be a little lower to that, maybe, 7 dollars subscriptions that last every season, but, in return, you should get at the final of those 9 weeks more than 1000 coins, maybe like 1500 coins, it should be something like daily rewards or similar, subscription daily/weekly challenges, something like that, that means you are willing to do a little more of playing, but in the end you pay less ($7), and get more coins (1500 coins).

Pay real money monthly (regardless of the cost) for fake money whose value can change at any given moment? No thanks!

Everything in Overwatch 2 SHOULD be free especially when Microsoft is a trillion dollar company who can’t turn a profit in gaming despite being in gaming for 20 odd years.

If everything is free, who are they gonna sustain the game? lol, that’s the exact reason OW1 had to close, most people just bought the game, that’s let’s say $60 (it was lower after some years) per customer, there’s literally no more income after those purchases, how you expect for them to create new content if they no longer get revenue.

Single players games, it’s different thing, they don’t need always new content, usually they get 1-3 DLCs for about 2 years, then, game’s done. And they don’t need to pay for servers, art design team, programmers, etc.

OW1 never closed it was turned into OW2. The devs deliberately stopped updating OW1 so they could FAKE work on OW2. Microsoft can’t make a profit in the gaming industry, they use the money they make from other industries to “keep themselves relevant” in gaming. Making everything free in Overwatch would literally do no harm.

Hey maybe if you were the CEO of Microsoft you could make it literally everything free, and we all be happy.

Till, I say 1 year, after the game closes forever because negative revenue (lose money, those servers, art team, programmers, etc aren’t free, you know) But hey, we had fun, eh?
