I feel like specifically support is relegated to just hiding constantly. Sigma is really the only reason roadhog wasn’t rampaging through teams before. Now they nerfed roads best tank counter, and buffed his one shot potential. Every game I have played this patch has been a lopsided deathmatch. Mostly decided by the better road or widow. I have never felt so helpless for the outcome of my games. Any time I try to make any sort of play I just explode to poke damage, and trying to heal through all the different one shot kills is basically impossible. No matter how well you heal, you can’t heal through the dozens of burst damage forms.
Zen Volley got buffed (not a one shot but may as well be), road got buffed (basically a One Shot), Ashe got buffed (one shot), widow and hanzo exist (one shot), junk got buffed (basically one shot), McCree isnt a one shot but it is worth noting he was buffed, soldiers helix was buffed, etc. etc.
I think this patch has shown that what was really causing double shield was only the combo potential with halt, combined with the unbelievable amount of burst damage that needs to be mitigated. The strong defensive kits of sups and tanks are necessary to deal with the DPS powercreep. Every game on ladder is just who can make the biggest solo plays on one of the crazy OP and over-buffed heroes. Idk. I am done playing support for awhile, I am just going to have to fall in line and abuse the meta.

Just don’t play Rein this patch. That’s what I’ve learned.
What if we just were depending on shields too much? We need to adapt and learn to hide, use corners, etc.

you cant play winston with hog as well… its too much damage … you end up feeding a lot, but when they have even stun heroes like mccree, brig… you will just get deleted.
As an Ana main, the idea of my teammates hiding around corners and behind objects is frankly terrifying.

It is not just your team, there is just too much damage being thrown at you to be able to get in LOS of your team a lot of the time too. This patch is just really not fun.

Roadhog feels pretty oppressive right how if you play support. Pretty much nothing you can do but die if he looks in your direction. He doesn’t even need the hook, pretty much one shot kills you if you have a sliver of dmg. The brig changes are just awful…
We are back into a game of nothing but DPS and Fat DPS tanks being viable. Every one else is just there to be free kills.

The funny thing is RH wouldn’t be half as bad if shields were worth anything. But pretty much no shields mean LoS moves like hook, hack, snipers etc are insanely powerful.

I can only speak for myself but I love the new patch. No more doubleshield and the tank heroes that are the most fun ones are meta. The game is finally more fps like and less shieldshooting.
Unless you’re any of the supports that can disable him, escape from him, or flat kill him.
I would love to see a support that can kill hog. AT best Ana can put him to sleep, if no one on your team wakes him up. But Moira dies instantly and does next to no dmg to hog. So at best you can run.
Brig is a joke, not even worth talking about vs Hog. Maybe if he stood still for 2 minutes she could kill him.
Lucio, outside of knocking him off a cliff you can’t do much but die.
Mercy… you can fly away maybe but that is about it. Again if hog touches you, you die.
Baptiste can possibly jump away, or die…

Brig: Bash + whip then get behind something and get help.
Moira: LITERALLY FADE AWAY. Why would you try to fight him alone?
Bap: Just jump up somewhere before he gets in range. Hook is terrible on upper ledges.
Mercy: Fly to a teammate away from Roadhog and keep your distance.
Lucio: Use the walls. He has incredible mobility.
Zen: Kill him from like 40 meters with charge right click.
Ana: Sleep > call for help > purple > he dies.

You do realize most the time Support are not trying to fight hog… .he’s trying to fight you. When all it takes is 1-2 left clicks to kill you half your solutions really don’t work. The worst being Brig.
You have to get way to close for SB to be effective any more and Brig has a mere 200hp now. It’s also back to hook=Dead. You don’t have time to fade, flail, boop etc to save your self from hog. All your solutions are what to do in the absolute best situation possible for support players… and not 99% of what you will actually run into.

Sounds like you have your target priorities disoriented with the needs of the matches.
Hog is there. Hog is a bullet sponge. Hog can ohko you. Rotate. Don’t just sit there mouth open like a turkey.
Just like any other tank, you need to play around their abilities.
Yeah I might actually be done with this game I realized just now. Blizzard wanna make it into the worst FPS game ever, fine I’ll just make the jump to Valorant.
A good hog will force engagements. The only counter to new hog is just never lose track of him and constantly run away. It is pretty silly. It requires FAR too much team coordination to stop a hog from getting value right now.
