Basically no niches, lots of counters and is never swapped onto to counter another hero.
I know it means nothing but just look at bastions stats in GM. 0.03 Pickrate and 30% Win rate. At least with other heroes like sombra she is useful in higher ranks. Bastion is trash in lower and upper ranks.
his whole concept was a mistake, his lore is the best one, but how he works its just not good, I hope blizzard know what to do with him in his rework, because we have seen some awlful reworks.
Pirate ship in general is trash. The only good situation for it is junkertown point A. It then proceeds to get wrecked with point B having loads of high ground to spam/jump onto the payload.
Buts it true, I forgot to mention that he is actually viable on one point of one map. Amazing
Just erase our memories and delete him from the game, you either make him stupidly annoying with a rework or keep him in a flawed from the start state (still target in a fps game) and let him die in F tier.
âBasically no (thing here)â without having âexcept forâ following it has the same implied-meaning as âno niches at all.â
That aside, yeah, the dudeâs in a bad place. Being a niche Hero is not good in a game thatâs all about consistency/flexibility being the best attributes. Especially if his healing is clunky (non consistently good) and his hurtbox is the hugest non-tank hurtbox. If anything, it feels like his healing is just there to offset the fact his hurtbox is too big, instead of just giving the dude a slimmer hurtbox and a more consistently useful ability instead of Repair.
I hope his rework also includes a rework for his model/hurtbox.

adverb
adverb: basically
used to indicate that a statement summarizes the most important aspects, or gives a roughly accurate account, of a more complex situation.
Overwatch has 55 points, bastion being viable on one point means he is viable about 1.9 percent of the time? Basically means generalising or summarising something to a âroughly accurate accountâ. So saying âno niches at allâ is vastly different to âbasically no nichesâ as using the word basically indicates there are more complex issues that are being simplified. Such as bastion being useful 1.9 percent of the time, which is miniscule when all other heroes atleast have whole maps where they are useful.
Sure, Bastion is in a terrible state, but I sense a Herculean rework would be required to make it viable, as its current kit seems impossible to balance and also outdated; it was designed at a time when many of its counters didnât exist.
Thatâs right, I refer to Bastion with âitâ, the correct pronoun.
