Back in the Ntndo DS there was a jewel of a game, Metroid Prime Hunters, with a Deathmatch style multiplayer with a few intersting modes and fun weaponry.
I’d love to replicate it in Workshop, which i’ve never used , so let me tell you about the Prime Hunter mode and the weapons, see if you like it.
The game had 8 weapons (and a nuke), accessible to all players, and each character had an affinity for one of them, unlocking a special alt-fire or passive for it.
In muliplayer, all players started with the basic pistol and has to pick up weapons throughout the map, represented by floating spheres with the colour and symbol of the weapon. There also is an affinity orb, which grants whichever weapon the character has affinity with.
The weapons are:
Power Beam: the basic gun. Infinite ammo, basic damage, fast projectile. Can be charged for a more powerful shot. No affinity effect (common for everyone).
Rocket Launcher: as Pharah’s. Charged shot deals more damage (and uses more ammo). Affinity: charged shot is a guided missile, chasing enemies.
Sniper: ‘Imperialist’, a laser hitscan sniper rifle. Back in the game, it deals half damage if no-scoping. Alt-fire zooms in. Zoomed-in headshot is instakill. Affinity: become invisible while immobile. Breaks stealth when displaced or taking damage. Colour RED.
Grenade Launcher: ‘Magmaul’, lobs a magma sphere that travels in an arc, bounces of surfaces (heavily) and then explodes either by time or contact with an enemy. Charged shot explodes on collision with slightly greater AoE. Affinity: charged shot causes burn, like Ashe’s dynamite. Colour ORANGE.
(Electric) Revolver: ‘Volt Driver’, shoots a very fast electric projectile in a straight line for moderate damage. Charged shot instead shoots a very slow and big electrical sphere that explodes on collision for moderate AoE damage. Affinity: charged shot causes HUD scrambling, the HUD malfunctions and the vision is blurred for a few seconds. Colour YELLOW.
Hand Mortar: ‘Battlehammer’, lobs projectiles at a quick rate, which explode in a decent AoE (can damage shooter). No alt-fire. Affinity: reduced rate of fire and increased AoE and damage. Colour GREEN.
Taser: ‘Neutrinarm’, electrocutes the enemy aimed at locking onto them, like a Moira-Winston tether. Low damage but constant. No alt-fire. Affinity: heals the shooter for the damage dealt. Colour BLUE.
Ice Carbine: ‘Judicator’, shoots a narrow projectile in a straight line that ricochets off surfaces up to 6 times. Charged shot shoots 3 projectiles at once. Affinity: charged shot instead shoots a cone of mist forward a few yards and freezes all enemies caught for a second. Colour PURPLE.
As for the mode i’d like to replicate: the Prime Hunter mode. It’s a mix betwee Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Bounty Hunter.
It’s FFA Deathmatch but with special rules: the first player to get a kill becomes the prime hunter. The prime hunter receives a bonus in movement speed and is constantly losing health. The only way for the prime to heal is by killing players, health packs won’t work on them. The prime hunter also recieves affinity for all weapons, regardless of character.
The player who kills the prime becomes the prime.
The goal is to be the prime for a set time goal (for example 90 seconds). Whoever reaches the objective time, wins.
