hi! I am a DIEHARD Overwatch fan. For the 6 years this game has been around for its all I talk and think about. sadly the betas and reception for Overwatch 2 are mid at best with terrible marketing and most likely Dead On Arrival.
After a couple weeks of crying a little and slight depression due to the negative reception (mind you, I still enjoy it) I think its best I move to something else otherwise OW’s demise will effect me more than it should.
Where should I go? I’m downloading Street Fighter V to prepare for 6, preordering Pokemon Scarlet. I’m more of a sole-skill player than a team-one. the latter part of OW’s lifespan had me only really enjoying FFA.
Any suggestions? I like colourful worlds, characters, lone skill-based gameplay. multiplayer or singleplayer I don’t mind.
It’s not out yet, but you might keep an eye on Gundam Evolution. If OW2 really does fail miserably, it’s going to have quite the opportunity to slide into that niche.
If you enjoy it, who cares what other people think?
You’re posting on a forum that hated everything about Overwatch 1 and only started to like it when Overwatch 2 came along and became the new thing to hate.
Overwatch 2 will be just fine. Hopefully this forum becomes a less negative place as the fan base grows again.
I actually don’t think it’s going to be a failure, the f2p model will attract plenty of hapless fools who are more than happy to whale out for an arguably more unfun version of a previously existing game and feed Blizzard enough money to convince them that continuing these anti-consumer business models is worth it. Because that’s just what Blizzard does.
I went back to Minecraft, Hunt Showdown, TF2 and about 3 days of Dead by daylight before I realized that they still have kept that game unfixed and left DC penalties on to force anyone that remains to play the game to enjoy being slugged for 10 minutes.
yes, there are game companies out there that exist that are 10,000 times worse than Activision and that is called “behavior interactive inc” , but after the Overwatch 2 changes have been announced I think they both will have trouble competing for the to slot for “worst game company of the year award”.
Borderlands
Red Dead Online
Gears of War 4 and 5
Outriders
Sea of Thieves
Save the World (Fortnite’s PvE campaign)
Alice: Madness Returns
Bioshock infinite
Crackdown 3
Destiny
Fallout 4
Strange Brigade
No offense, but if an upcoming game’s poor reception bothers you that much, I think you might need to work on your mental state. It’s not healthy to be that attached to a game.
But as for suggestions…maybe TF2? Its glory days are gone but it’s still fun in short bursts. A couple years ago I would have suggested Paladins but it’s so busted and full of cheaters it’s not even worth it now. Splitgate is a ton of fun, feels like oldschool Halo mixed with Portal. Maybe try Apex if you like lone skill-based stuff. Personally I don’t like battle royales but it controls really well, so I can at least vouch for that.
As far as single player stuff goes, you could try stuff like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta or Astral Chain. The Mass Effect games are great (minus Andromeda) so you could try them, the Legendary Edition is a solid remaster bundle. Torchlight 2 is really good if you like games like Diablo. Oh and that upcoming game High on Life looks really cool, it comes out in October.
I think OW2 will be a big hit bth. Do you read to many doomer threads or what is it? There is not much to worry about.
Gun dam might be good but lacks the resources, presence and characters that blizz created.
The new way of getting cosmetics is normal for all people outside OW.
The changes are not drastically that its not OW anymore.
No where. I tried 3 years to find another game. Found non. Why do you want to leave OW? Just because some doomers sayed something? If you played OW2 during 2019 and later I assure you that it will only get better and you have no reason to think that it will be dead soon. You seen a dead game since 2021 here around. So what?
Seems like you are to easy influenced by bad talk without substance. if you still like OW 5v5 then there is no reason to leave at all.
