Now that we get an improved communication wheel, I feel it is time to add a mute button for voice lines. I am tired of constantly hearing “I need healing” from a full health Genji, enemy D.va’s spamming high pitch voicelines through the entire game etc. And I fear with more options this will only get worse.
Yeah, it is kind of strange that was not just an option by default.
There already is one. You click the drop down arrow next to their name or right click their name and press ‘squelch chat’.
It completely muted all voicelines from them lol
This is for PC only. Consoles have no ability to squelch voice lines and it is sorely needed.
Dang that’s dumb. It shouldn’t be hard for them to add right? I’d go insane if I had to listen to every dva players ‘winky face’ spam all game lol
You can totally just turn off all “In-game voices” and turn on critical gameplay subtitles. No voices… but you can glance at the bottom of the screen.
I don’t think that this will happen because Voice Lines are a type of item that you get from lootboxes (that you either get in the game or buy it). Having the option to disable these means that the person who is using the Voice Lines will be practically useless.
Now you may say that it’s just a theory, but a similar thing happens in TF2. There’s no option to disable custom decals in TF2, but you can disable sprays. The difference between both is that decals are something you buy, while sprays are free.
It’s same principle for the voice lines. It sucks that we can’t mute, but I guess there’s nothing we can do.
Personally I love voicelines, and frequently use them. But some people are using them in such a way it distracts you from the game. I did not know you could use the squelch for this, must be new as I think I have tried it before unsuccessfully? Will give it another try for sure!
You can go into sound setting and turn in game voice all the way down. That’s how you do it
They’re limiting comms more fyi. So it doesn’t refresh 4 after a couple seconds, it only refreshes one every few seconds.
You already can…
Not on consoles you can’t…
