WINSTON's ULT BUFF? (links by OWL & MIRO say WINSTON/TRACER are the HARDEST HEROES)

I m not saying Winston needs a buff , with good support he is almost op. BUT MOST in O.W.L. say " WINSTON is 1 of the most difficult character to MASTER , together with TRACER " ( click U-TUBE LINK )

  • I mean how many times u PRIMAL-RAGED and u did nothing?
    ( especially on non environmental maps. )

  • Almost nobody cares when u announce my ULT IS READY

  • A small buff i can get out of my head now is … "Maybe some tesla lighting around him when he runs AMOC? "

Any ideas or am i disillutional?

I think 40 -> 50 damage per swing is all that is needed to turn it into a powerful ult.

I was already under the assumption that it 50 damage so yes to that.

Yeah 40 is super low. Higher level players do well because they can juggle and hit a 45 damage jump every 2 seconds.

For lower level players that aren’t hitting the jump, the damage output is way below his tesla gun.

Primal Rage is very difficult to perfect, but not very difficult to use. Even if all you do is trap some squishie in a corner and slap him/her to death, or just leap around being a slight annoyance to the enemy, you’re still getting value out of the ult. You don’t need to knock half the team off the map and goomba stomp everyone else for it to be considered a good ult. Hell, just using it to prolong your life is often totally worth it. Just becasue it has a high skill ceiling, doesn’t mean its weak.

tl:dr, no, it doesn’t need any changes. It’s strong as heck.

I would argue that if you’re popping the ult for DPS, you’re doing it wrong. The main attraction of Primal Rage is sustain and mobility, not damage or kill potential (though obviously the kill potential is massive if you’re on an environmentally hazardous map). If you’re looking for someone with a high impact damage ult, then Winston is not the pick for you.

I don’t think anyone is really popping it for damage potential. I just don’t like how his DPS drops far below his non-ult state for the lower level players.

I’m not a great Winston, I’m quite happy if I kill a single 200hp during my primal. I think a tiny buff to damage (10) to reduce the amount of hits by 1 would be a good QOL buff without making it OP.

Definitely Winston’s Ult is one of the worst in game if not the worst

I can’t think of any other ult that is so week.

And yes as easy he is to play he is so difficult to master.

         AND I THINK  ALL HEROES COUNTER HIM 

As far as Tracer I would place her harder to master than Winston but perhaps because she makes me dizzy to play. Thank god Winston evaporates her

I can think of two that are weaker right off the bat- Deadeye and Barrage

Winston’s primal rage first purpose is to make space and split the opponent team. Not to make damages and secure kills. Of course, you can do it on certain occasions, but that’s not what it’s done for.

Sop thinking that an ultimate is just done to kill people … It’s literally a 1000 max instant self-heal, with lots of jumps. It’s ideal to contest points, to push people down their high ground, to push a tank ahead and make him an easy target, to control an ulting DPS and so on …

Winston is hard to master, I can say it, I have lots of hours on that hero, played it in teams and all, and I think I still am able to use him a 50% potential max. It’s even worse for his ult. Pros usually tell that a good Winston can be easily spotted with his ult use. So the ult is not the issue, it’s what people make with it.

Winston is good, Winston is balanced, leave him alone, no useless buffs or nerfs please.

A major mistake i was doing was to keep the fire button continuously wile in primal rage … Therefore I could’t see nothing (or were I was aiming) from Winstons hands in front the crosshair …

  • i had to watch some XQC videos to see that wile in rage … many times he was not punching

  • I think i need to do a custom game with 100% ULT charge and practice how far he jumps and how to aim the PRIMAL JUMP

  • Wich by the way brothers on MIROS video above says that the NO 1 MISTAKE in WINSTON’S ULT people do is that when we Primal we don’t do the

                             Primal Dive Punch combo 
                           THE WUJING as he calls it ... 
    

but we just punch around.

Have I stepped through a portal into some bizarro-world where people still don’t understand the value of Winston’s ultimate? Do you know what is often the most annoying thing that happens to the backline supports? Winston jumping deep to get them, and then as you’re about to kill him he uses Primal rage, heals to 1000, and finishes off the supports. It is one of the most powerful stall tools in the game. You can clear enemies off an overtime point, kill 200 hp heroes pretty quickly, disrupt enemy formations, and even boop enemies off cliffs.

It’s hard to use, but it definitely needs no buffs.

It took me 100 hours experience to get consistant value from my primordial rages. It comes out of experience guess.

Thnx Touillette , i just entered a custom game to test Winston’s ULT on an unlimited cool down. My remarks

  • Aiming the jump is super difficult (for me)
  • When aiming High to Dive sometimes i was ejecting to “space”
  • But when i was holding the BACK BUTTON I felt i was jumping like when he is in a normal state.
  • A.I. had HOG , since i was on a 1000 health , i attacked HOG… literarily took me 20-30 sec to finish him of on a corner

My main issue is aiming the Primal Jump … feels so random to me

I dont know your rank guys but FOR ME to land a Jump in Primal almost feels random , yet I’m with a controller but i don’t think thats an excuse , yes the swings should be 50

There is a combo with popping his ult that can kill a 200 health hero in about a second.

It’s hard to pull off as it should be.

At the same time the ult can be used in a push to cause the enemy to waste resources and push key targets into your team away from the protection of the enemy team.

I don’t think he really needs a change as his ult already has a lot of utility.

Well since Winston is my main (or at least, my most played character) I have to say that the hero became just natural talking about jumps and all, but you just have to play it a lot. A few hours and everything become just natural.

A few tips for the jump, very useful is game :

  1. Jump + hold S : small jump. I know it sound easy to do, but I usually do not see people doing that correctly. You can do it while damaging someone in a close area, against a wall to jump without moving : free 50 damages.
  2. If jumping on someone : melee the oponnent while landing, animation cancel for 30 free damage.
  3. Always jump (space bar) before the ability. Better controle, avoids being stoped by something on the ground (yup it happens).
  4. When jumping for a high ground to another, jump off the edge then use the ability to gain 1 meter or 2.

Seem natural for lots of people, but that’s things that you have to keep in mind.

That’s the same thing during ulting. Looking where you want to jump, then jumping there. What do you want to do with that jump ? If you want to bump someone, where do you want to bump it ? If you know, jump accordingly. Just don’t go on someone randomly.

I would like to see a buff to Primal Rage, the ult is very weak for both damage and zoning. It feels more like a jump away button than a ult.
