Just how it is. Every friend I’ve talked to that plays this game, and my own (past) experiences, it’s the same. If you win too many times in a row, if your wins go too high above your losses, the game starts to throw you into stomp after stomp after stomp of unbeatable matches against players substantially better than any person on your team.
Even if players on your team leave and you get backfill, the new players will not be any higher skilled and many of them will be brand new.
Even if you leave these matches, you will be forcibly put into matches just like them over and over and over until you get enough losses to even out your win/loss or lower the gap between them. This season is no different.
I don’t know why more people don’t complain about this. The reason everyone’s wins and losses are so close together is not because the matchmaker is balanced, it’s because it forces you to lose if you win too many times. Yes, you have a small amount of agency over what happens in match, but if you and your entire team are Silver skill level vs an entire team of Diamond skill level, there is nothing you can do. Nothing. Blizzard knows this.
There is though. You can quit. If people do that enough - that will teach someone in Actiblizz a lesson (not really, though - they will just blame “external factors” during the shareholders call and lament about unfaithful player-base and then promise to those shareholders how they will come up with more innovative strategies to squeeze the remaining few till the last drop monetize the game better)
No, the only change that will ever happen honestly is the game dies and the plug is pulled on the servers. They literally do not care, nor will they ever.
Also I already quit. I uninstalled the game like 4 weeks ago.
Ah the classic forced 50/50 WR theory. Its one of its variants for sure, like when you win too much, they put you dumb team mates and you start losing … to a point they do the opposite etc.
Everyone has this “shadow thoughts” there but most of the time is what they are. Playing MH is the best because mostly you can only blame RNG
The magnificent matchmaking, I no longer do rankeds on Thursdays and Fridays, because those are the days that loss streaks usually start (I have fully verified it).
Look, OP, the game has dynamic matchmaking. If you go on a huge win streak, it figures you need to go up in difficulty to get a balanced match. If you’re able to hold on at that level, all well and good. If you can’t, you’ll fall back to your real MMR.
It’s just like baseball - if you start dominating at a low level, they’ll promote you and see how you handle it. If you can’t handle the skill jump, they’ll send you back to work on your game until you can. No conspiracy, no angry sky gods, just the result of abnormal results.
Yeah great analogy except it’s completely wrong. What Blizzard does is put you on a team full of school children against professional baseball players resulting in the most one sided matches you can imagine.
I don’t think it’s even possible to go 100% winrate on this game, even if you were to rage-hack 5 stack. Eventually, you will find a worthy opponent who will defeat you at whatever cost.
now imagine a smurf account.
they win 10 games and get put in high dia games.
as a gm they still wipe the lobby and prove to the mm that they are still better than that. until they reach a point where its almost even as they play as a strong player in a high elo game.
now lets take you.
you win a couple of games and it gives you more weight on the team than others meaning you are expected to out perform your team. this match basically is the mm giving you the chance to higher your mmr.
you lose that match.
now the mm sees you aren’t where it thought you could be and adjusts either putting less weight on you making you not the best player on the team or lowering the overall rating of the next match to see uf you can carry a little bit less high rated match.
you win the next one and it again pushes you just a slight bit higher.
depending which game you win / lose the adjustments are bigger. like when you win a game that was against the odds the mm has thought as he was sure you lose that one.
this is all just uneducated noise i am making but thats how i sometimes look at the games.
this is what happens when you move up the ladder…the MM noticed you winning against teams and so moved you upwards until you were no longer able to beat the enemy team.
we have all been on a team when we get rolled, its not that everyone on your team is bad and that the enemy players are insane. first look at your comp, do you have any chars the work well together or are you all just playing whatever. second, is the enemy team working together with synergy and teamwork
Encountered same in CS:GO: if one round you have clueless enemies, that tend to die easy, next match you will have pro MLG players, that kill you with 1 headshot.
The only case this is true is if you win a lot, your mmr raises and you can’t impact the game as much, and you drop back down.
Or… Streaks happen, and playing a lot increases the likelihood of winstreaks and loss streaks. I used to encounter them all the time when I had more free time in a bunch of other games.
This also happens in comp. Win a load of matches in a row, then suddenly you get a slew of unwinnable games.
Now a lot of people would say:
“You only climbed because you got lucky, then you were at a rank you didn’t belong and found it too hard”
That’s not the case though. If I were in a rank I didn’t belong and needed to drop because I wasn’t performing well enough, why do I always have the best stats in the whole lobby? Why are my teammates suddenly utter bots who walk in alone, can’t hit a single shot, and don’t heal more than 2k in a whole match?
Surely my teammates should also be higher ranked and better than previous teammates, no? Instead I get total deadweight, and it feels like the game is trying to make me prove myself by carrying 5 people who seem to have never played the game before.
I lose the same number of games in a row as I previously won in a row, then all of a sudden I have normal teammates again. Surely I should have worse teammates because I’ve now ranked down?
This matchmaking patent was discovered a couple of years ago and one of the highlights is that it pairs people on winning streaks with those on losing streaks to even out the chances of winning.
