All 7 placement matches won, still on the lowest rank possible.
Am I missing something? Why it’s called “placement matches” if they place you nowhere?

I won all matches,it gave me to silver 2. i was platin-diamond in OW1.
I need some insightful comments about these placements really.

Placements are a joke. It is just placing people roughly 2 ranks lower than their OW 1 ranks…gold dps and silver/gold healer…bronze 2 and bronze 4 placements. It is a joke how this was handled. Also bronze 4 and won all the placements on healer and i think 6/7 on dps.

maybe they did this because the game is now 5v5 and want everyone to actually climb back to their rank rather than having everyone parked at their old sr. The game does feel different so maybe it needed something like this.
though this is just speculation.

Regardless of their reasons for doing this, it’s a silly way to do it.
The problem with Competitive for so long has been people not getting placed appropriately. Forcing people down ranks just because it’s a new game is not how you balance your competitive matches. Going from High Diamond to Silver 2 is just a recipe for disaster. With all the new and returning players, it’s going to end up being too many people at ranks below where they should be ruining games for everyone at that rank while they climb

The exact same thing happened to me. I had a nearly flawless run on my placements and topped the leaderboard every game to be handed the lowest rank possible.
I’m so dissuaded to play the game now. I don’t think I’ll even try.

Blizzard isnt going to say anything… you can play perfect all day long, no mistakes, and somehow end up worse off than you were last game

Blizz is so dumb for not having a complete reset of MMR. Seriously, these guys are helpless. With the way their matchmaking works (algorithms determining what rank you should be at) they should have known there is no way to transfer rank from OW1 to OW2.
Complete clown show. People predicted it would be like this one year ago yet they still couldn’t see it coming. I bet they have all of these awful reasons as to why this is the best way to do it, yet here we are and nobody likes it. DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The engagement based matchmaking deniers look silly now. Clearly this was the plan all along to make players grind back to their old ranks.
Same here… had a bad last Season and was on 1900 something (I didn’t care because I thought there will be a full reset) - now I won my 7 first games and landed in…
bronze 4!

Not defending the decision, but they gave everyone a heads up…
I went 7-3 or 7-4 and then placed bronze 5, a little confused I decided to consider this a hard reset. On my next series, I go 7-1 with over 5 POTG and don’t even get BRONZE 4. I am still somehow bronze 5 lowest rank in-game while going 14-5 or 14-4. Make that make sense.
They use old data because they don’t know how to use individual statistics since some clown in management thinks win/loss is the only way to rank people. It’s literally a philosophical commitment causing all this.
They hate individuality so much, they won’t let anyone have any.
