Windows 11 - Overwatch Folder creation Defaults to One Drive

Hello Team,

Upgraded my computer a few months ago and noticed that the Overwatch folder that gets created the first time you log into the game defaults to C:\Users\username\OneDrive . I’ve tried updating the install location in the Battle.Net launcher but that’s refering to the program files.

Since your video replays and screenshots get saved to the Overwatch folder, i’d like to get that out of my One Drive. We don’t need to preserve how bad I am at Genji. How do I get this folder out of my One Drive Folder, and more specifically, done in a way where the client doesn’t just recreate the folder again in my one drive.

Is a text file that informs what directory you will save. You can change the directory by putting another directory on specific line in the file.

I’ll give this a shot. However I dont know if that will solve my issue. The Overwatch Folder created on first log in creates sub folders for Logs, In-game Visual settings, and a folder path for Screenshots.

this folder can be changed on the Settings_v0.ini file you can add the line they mention on topic 7 under movie export category

Example: VideoPath = "D:\Overwatch Highlights"

While your settings are tied to One Drive Folder, you can change where you save your highlights.

If you're power user, you can opt for a bit more complex but if you know what you're doing can provide better storage management of your own files.

Other 2 options if you want to change directories in general for your own Windows User,
1- You can manually change where each directory is saved on your disk by setting other folders under directories like Documents, Images, Downloads, Videos and so on.
2- Create a symbolic link on that specific folder (like one drive) and link it towards another directory on your PC. (https://www.howtogeek.com/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/)
