I’m a little confused on the win rate necessary to climb. I just saw a post that said you need at least a 55% win rate to even maintain your rank, however I have climbed 505 SR this season with a 52.8% win rate. Anyone have any idea how SR gains/losses work?
It’s different for every rank. You need a higher win rate in GM than you do in diamond to climb. Everything below diamond is wildly inconsistent due to performance based SR existing.

This game is a joke and climbing doesn’t matter with all the smurfs, alts and trolls that have taken over this game.

If you are below diamond, your SR gain/loss is affected by your statistical performance, which can make it take more or less games to climb up.
If your performance is average, you mathematically only need a win rate slightly over 50% to climb up, but if your win rate is 51% it will take almost an eternity to get anywhere. I don’t really feel like I’m climbing at a decent rate unless my win rate is around 60%.
All you need is a 52+% win rate to climb in every rank but GM, 51 is on the boarder because if you play enough games there is a 1-2 SR difference sometimes in-between games
In gm you need like a 60% winrate
but on ladder, 50% is staying in the rank you belong/going up or down a little
under 50% you’re going down a lot
52% is good
i normally go up 300ish per season and I maintain a 54% winrate
I think I maybe just got lucky? I placed 2514 and I managed to get to 3019, and while I felt like I could play at a diamond level I thought I would need at least a 60% win rate to rank up.
Wow it would take a long time to climb with that win percent. You must play a lot. I have never experienced a slow climb over 300 points though. Are you sure you weren’t doing closer to 60 percent and then slowed down as you peaked?

eh about over the course of a season I may play like 100 - 200 games (there were like 2 seasons I didn’t get to play much because I had computer issues)
s5 - started at 1700, dropped to 800
s6 - dropped to 600
s7 - went to 1300
s8- 1500
s9- 1900
s10 - 13- 2000 (computer troubles)
s14 - 2700

yeah I’m always around the 53% - 58% mark, but rn I’m at 54.4%
