Will they adjust Rapid Discord if this Orb of Discord change goes live?

Rapid Discord is one of Zenyatta’s achievements, that when unlocked, grants the player his Pixel spray.

The requirement to unlock it is to earn four Orb of Discord kills or assists in 6 seconds in a game of Quick or Competitive Play.

As of the live version of the game, January 21st of 2021, this achievement is difficult, yet still very obtainable. However, this new balance change that lowers his Orb of Discord’s projectile speed from 120 to 90 will surely complicate the obtaining of this spray and achievement.

If this change is to go live, will we see a slight adjustment(s) in the requirements to earn this? Possibly lower the amount needed within the time frame, or allow for more time for the achievement to be accomplished.

I want to say yes, but the answer is probably no

Achievements very rarely get changed even if they become significantly harder after a balance change. Or easier, in the case of Floor is Lava

Yeah I’m afraid of that. They kept Mercy’s cute spray at six resurrections without dying despite her Ultimate being reworked years ago. If a player wants that spray, they kind of have to soft throw to get it… not good design imo

Nah you just have to aBuSe a BuG and you’ll never ever die and you DEFINITELY won’t be sniper food for super jumping

No. You don’t need it. I did the achievement back when they were this slow, but Zen was way trashier than he was right now. Even though the only playable supports back then were basically Lucio/Mercy I managed to get it

I mean yeah I have it too but isn’t it like considered one of the hardest achievements as of right now? It would reach Baptiste cute spray levels of absurd

Not really. If you play Zen enough and discord a team through a team wipe you basically get the achievement. Easily doable especially if someone gravs 4 and you rotate the discord between all in the grav

The only near impossible achievement right now is the doomfist one, whatever it was called again

Hm yeah I guess it truly isn’t as hard as people make it out to be. I dunno, I got it on complete accident when I was a noob honestly. I just hear that it’s apparently stupid hard so I was trying to speak on behalf of the majority.

Yeah Cratered is pretty tough, been trying to get that one for a while now

Yep, the only time I’ve seen achievements changed is when an ability is fundamentally reworked, AKA mercy ultimate change and Hanzo scatter shot. Think that’s it actually.

Mercy’s cute still requires six resurrections without dying. Also Torbjörn’s pixel was changed when he lost armor packs

Well considering how often the circumstances align without consistently playing the hero it might seem like it, especially in lower tiered games where TTK is so low that the timeframe becomes an issue. Also it’s not an achievement you can easily force in any circumstances especially in gamemodes like QP where players rarely stack up on each other without a choke. Not a hard one, but a bit random one

Yeah it seems like more luck based ones are the hardest, like the Doomfist one we were talking about. Well thank you for the insightful conversation, I’ll try and keep this in mind when regarding achievements from now on

Sadly they do not balance changes with achievements. This is why some people try to obtain the hero’s achievement when meta or new. As in time they can get harder.

Well as I was just informed, statistically the more “rng” based ones will be harder to obtain due to requiring very specific scenarios… I would not mind adjustments but yeah it still seems like it could be made a bit easier

The thing that makes it hard is that the discord needs to be on the target when they are eliminated. That makes it pretty hard to get with a grav.

Cooperating with a Mei is the best way to get Rapid Discord

IIRC at launch (when the achievements were created), the discord/harmony orb speed was even lower than on experimental.

Ofc. It’s not an easy achievement, but it’s not that hard. It depends on whether you kill the targets in the grav one by one or in a bunch. If it’s just you and Zarya they’ll die one by one, but if they combo then the targets die simultaneously. Mei is a good one too though
