Will there be Israeli map/hero anytime in the future?

Overwatch likes to represent significant, iconic and famous nations in the game either through introducing new maps or heroes. Israel is one of most iconic countries, as well as one of the most historically significant and influential nations.

What are the chances of map from Israel being added (like Jerusalem) or some sort of defense character (suiting the history of Israel being defense-centered)?

Disclaimer: I’m not from Israel, nor have any ties to that nation and I’m not biased. I just recognize them as one of most iconic nations which is undeniable.

Deus, this name seems familiar…

It’s Latin for God.

Maybe you remember that from crusades?

First time I encounter someone disliking their country being represented in popular culture, especially just thought of it. Why?

Talking about the thread now, there are more than 170 contries, it would be impossible to represent all of them in-game. Also Isreal has no contribution for the Lore right now.

( Petra also doesn’t so, whatever)

There are so many people asking for maps/ heroes from X location youre gonna be waiting a while. Meanwhile no Canadian summer games icon because we dont exist apperently.

Thing is, not all countries are iconic and judging by Israel’s historical and cultural significance, it should be introduced earlier than other ones if OW keeps national diversity of cast/maps.

We JUST had a thread about Israel that ended up getting locked because it turned out exactly the way all Israel threads do. I just had to delete a sentence about what’s currently going on there that would undoubtedly start an argument.

What I will do is quote a theory somebody else had a while back, and leave it at that:

If they want to add a map from any location, pretty sure those who have a lore contribution will be a priority, like Korea ( D.va’s nation), Switzerland (The OW Headquarters), Ireland ( Moira’s country), Rio ( Lúcio’s country and the Vishkar thing), Sweden ( Torb’s country). or any other country with some more relevance in the Lore.

With they would care about historical and cultural relevance, we would need a map/character/whatever for like 170 contries.

I mean, Brazil also won a lot of wars…

Did they violate international law repeatedly while doing so and, if they did, were they held accountable for it?

That person has no proof to back up his claims. I am normal person, and just want to see more countries that I like in game.

Truth is Israel is hated by certain countries, and people who try to get Israel related topics locked are from there, trying to put a blame on non-existing propaganda machine by turning topic political.

No ideia but, i have a guess: No ( or whatever u want to read)

Well, that means Brazil is significantly different from Israel.

For sure. As a brazilian i can say: right now, we only produce everyone’s coffee and soy and complain about our corrupt government.

Also, Brazil is 518 yrs old, when Isreal already passed throw so much thing for like, more than 1000 years.

currently Israel is in the center of controversy because of how many atrocities and war crimes they have commited. I would rather OW to just stay away from that, and pick somewhere different

Let me guess. Any and all hatred and/or criticism has absolutely nothing to do with actions taken by its government or military and everything to do with anti-Semitism, is that what you’re implying? Because it’s just impossible that you guys could do anything wrong.

EDIT: Listen, I’m a dual citizen of the United States and Canada.

The United States has killed a lot of people who didn’t deserve it, has done a lot of screwed up stuff over its history and particularly over the last 17 years.

Canada isn’t as strong militarily as the United States and doesn’t have the ability to influence the world as much, but it’s done a lot of screwed up stuff too.

As a citizen of those countries, I do not pretend that they are noble and good and perfect and that anybody who says anything bad about them is just spouting lies. As a citizen of Israel, you shouldn’t be pretending any such thing about your country, either.
