Currently she has close to 100% pickrate/playtime in OWL. Teams wait for nano/nade to wipe the enemy team and she can use sleep dart to counter enemy nano or any attempt to dive her. And she easily farms her ult with her infinite range healing and damage.
She killed OW1 and she will kill OW2 too. The game cannot be balanced while she exists.
Ana is mildly busted true, but think sheās only a symptom of a bigger problem, Brig is nearly useless, Baptist easy to dive, and so is mercy. And lucio can easily peel for her.
On the contrary, she is the best thing that ever happened to Overwatch. High skill ceiling and skill floor which favor OWL at their peak level. Compared to those nasty DLC heroes. She is the best thing that ever happened
A sniper support who excels at long distancing, can offer both dmg and healing.
Her kit requires aim and a very fine tuned gamesense, or else she dies, suceptible to flanks and dives if not prepared, and usage of abilities can be heavily punished.
Has no mobilty and requires setup to be effective, and has to use map knowledge to be effective.
I love how Ana can have a low pickrate in previous OWL seasons and nobody will say anything because āOWL stats donāt matterā and parrot that sheās OP anyway, but when sheās got a high pick rate in OW2 OWL suddenly the OWL stats matter.
Either the OWL stats matter or they donāt, you canāt just decide they matter because they fit your narrative.
They increased her shots per magazine to 15, but nerfed her bionade to last 3s, IIRC. Iād say that was a net nerf. She also has a longer cooldown for Sleep in OW2.
Meanwhile her teammatesā hitboxes are fat and forgiving for her heal projectiles.
Another hidden passive for Ana is her forgiving, small wonky hitbox that can be her lifesaver.
Despite Ana has weakesses, I find sheās like reworked Hanzo who has strengths outweigh weaknesses. Unlike Zenyatta, he has fair upsides and downsides.
Itās cool that in this rant you forgot to mention the one thing about her which is busted, which is healblock grenade.

She doesnt have to be played to be a sleeper broken OP hero that ruined the balance of the game after she was released. She literally influenced every balance decision and is the reason for every meta that ever existed. Her kit is NOT healthy for the game.
Ana being played now in pro play is just another reason to talk about the metaphorical cancer that she is.
Uhhhhh what? Very few metas arised solely because of her. Beyblade and OG triple tank are the only ones that were caused by her. Sheās generally just been an accessory at best in other metas, like Genji meta in 2020, or just a straight downgrade in others like double shield or poke, where youāre playing Bap Zen or Brig. Even in rush sheās outclassed by Bap.
She wasnāt played in GOATS because the trio of Lucio/Zen/Brig was better at supporting each other, and GOATS only arised to counter double sniper, as did double shield.
Ana sees so much use in OWL currently because half the support cast doesnāt work well in 5v5. Otherwise only Lucio (seeing tons of use) and Moira work well in 5v5. And thereās no way theyāll allow Moira to see regular use in OWL without being immediately nerfed (like the last time).
If the rest of the support cast gets reworks or improvements, her pick rate will drop. Sheāll never go away though. Her utility is still good.

The devs buffed and nerfed many heroes to try to re-balance the game around Ana. They wanted to get people to stop playing her and managed to create the famous never-ending D.va dive meta.
So Ana caused Dive meta ā devs finally ended it after ~18 months by creating the monster that is launch day brigitte ā GOATS was born a couple months later ā role locks, double shields etc.
So as you can see, Ana is the reason every meta happened.
I dont, I hate how the forced e-sports killed the competitive scene. Instead of friend groups playing for fun, a group of paid randoms are forced to play specific heroes 12h+ a day as a job.
