Blizzards “we are removing CC’s” is really just replacing them all with slowdowns. With this being said, will they stack with each other just like Mei’s left click/Blizzard stack in OW1?
E.G. if Sojourn throws down her slowdown grav and I as Mei walk in left clicking anyone in this, will my freeze slowdown stack with the slowdown of the mini grav and make them move even slower? If not which ability is it going to prioritise? I ask since Orisa’s rework just got shown and she not has slowdown abilities, apparently flashidy is getting slowdown instead of flash etc. so it’s very likely double stacking of slowdown abilities is going to occur just from the sheer amount of them.
Didn’t they put a cap on slows already though? Or was it something like the slowest slow will take priority? I know they did something with it but don’t remember exacy what.
I know this because my sym turrets don’t stack anymore.
I think currently, apart from Mei, the way slow down abilities work is that the strongest slow overrides all of the other ones. But once again, apart from Mei, there aren’t any ability that specifically slow down the enemies. Most of the slow downs are the aftermath of other abilities, like Orisa’s Halt, Sigma’s Flux, etc.
Currently, in Overwatch, slows do not stack unless they’re coming from Symmetra’s, or Mei’s weapons. And typically the most powerful slow takes precedence over the lower powered slows.
Since Sigma has the most powerful slow (through his ultimate) that takes precedence first, once it fades, the next highest takes over (Halt, usually), once that fades then falls towards others like Mei’s and/or Symmetra’s.
You guys think what I thought. But that only applies to self inflicted slows like rein shield or widow scope. If the natural scope speed is slower than the sym turret speed penalty, then the sym turret won’t affect her. Whereas if rein has his shield up and mei is slowing him way down, his shield speed penalty will go away when its overridden by the mei slow.
But two external sources will always stack. I just tested it today.
Currently, slows get suppressed when using certain movement abilities; Winston’s Jump Pack, for example. Whether that changes for OW2, is unclear, but most heroes that typically aren’t mobile usually have impressive range afforded to them. Some also have defensive abilities that they can use to defend themselves (Sleep, Cryo-Freeze, Transcendence, barriers of many kinds, TAB, Fortify, Flashbang, etc).
