Not sure if this has been posted before but i was just wondering with the release of OW2 just around the corner what’s going to happen with all our unopened loot boxes and coins from OW1 since loot boxes will be removed from OW2 and a new currency will be introduced.
No, but I wish our loot boxes will carry over. They look pretty, and I still have one of the Hammond ones left (very rare, only given out during the introductory week that Hammond released!).
Supposedly they are going to be opened for us.
OW1 coins will transfer over, but it appears they will be of limited use.

To give you a quick answer now though, those existing currencies (credits, OWL tokens, and competitive points) will come with you into Overwatch 2. We are not transitioning loot boxes into Overwatch 2, and ahead of launch, any unopened loot boxes will be automatically opened with your account receiving all the contents directly.
EDIT: clarified below as well that OW1 credits come with you to OW2, but our new virtual currency will be the main currency, and there will be things in OW2 that will not be purchasable with those OW1 credits.

yes…
but i bet theyre only good for the skins that are already in the game. $15 says theyre to cheap to transfer those coins to be able to purchase the battlepass for free
i never even noticed…
like they made all the lootboxes like that or they gave everyone one hammond lootbox. i just dont remember anything like that even happening
Everyone who logged in for the week or two during his promotional period after he was added to the game received two of his special themed loot boxes as a one-time event. The loot boxes were guaranteed to contain some of his specific cosmetics. He was the only hero addition that came with with his own themed loot box.
