This mode is legit going to play horribly with the modern gaming audience and OW playerbase’s skill level and culture. People are going to quickly realize that 2016 OW was only more fun because it was fresh and more casual
For the old players who just want some fun nostalgia and for the newer players who want to try all the whacky stuff that got removed over the years, this mode will be great, but for the people who are dead serious that the core gameplay used to be better designed, this mode will be a rude awakening
I do hope when the hardcore playerbase is inevitably disappointed by this mode, it at the very least serves as a wake up call to Blizzard of how much damage they caused to their game by their constant antagonism towards and alienation of the casual playerbase over the years. Perhaps this is a desperate last ditch effort to win them back, but it’s going to be difficult especially when Marvel Rivals releases in a month and caters to that precise niche that quit OW

Pretty much everyone agrees post-hero limits and pre-RQ was OW’s peak.
No hero limits is silly fun but it never should’ve been in the game realistically. It’s good that after the first week of this event, hero limits will be implemented.

I think it will be great as an arcade mode and will be popular enough to become a regular mode in arcade. 
While I look forward to playing Overwatch Classic, I don’t think it will reignite that old flame for long…
What Overwatch needs is moving forward with a real sequel, not a mix of P2P and F2P Overwatch, nor old Overwatch back completely.
Canceling Overwatch 2 was their biggest mistake so what they do need to do is coming up with a real sequel to launch in like 2-3 years (whether it’s a completely new PVE or PVP game).

It will have more to do with it just being a time event than being a bad mode.
OQ was not balanced in the slightest. People who think that are just delusional. The only saving grace back then was that most people had no idea how the game worked. 222 was player forced, because of selfish players. Always remember that.
That’s the goal afterall. They are going to make sure people are disappointed by it by choosing all the wrong ways to do it.
Showing OW1 at its least refined and in the worst mode imaginable is not the way to shut up “old OW better”. I don’t refer to old OW as day 1 no limit trash. I refer to it as how it was at the end of its life.
I don’t even intend to play this “OW classic” and I’m a hardcore 6v6 advocate that is done playing 5v5. Its just completely missing the point of what I want.
When people talk about “Old OW”, they don’t mean release OW with no changes. That should be pretty obvious.

This isn’t related to the 6v6 tests next season. Just a fun event mode that many players want.

No since “old overwatch” is relative anyway. The old overwatch I’d prefer is just a little bit before updates stopped for Overwatch 1. That’s still relatively modern Overwatch, but older than OW2.
I’m torn between thinking “eh, that’s your opinion”, and being curious why you want something to blow up egregiously just because you don’t like it. Even at my most angry, my complaints were always “I wish people would just accept that Overwatch 2 needs to be like this to succeed”. I was working with the limitations we had (one tank, less CC, ect) and not saying “I don’t like it, so it should all be ruined”.
Blizzard already said 6 DPS scenarios and the like were uncommon, and GOATs was created as a result of Brig.
So yes, OQ OW was balanced and there was freedom. Queue times were good and you could switch in and out of whatever composition you wanted.
OQ only fell apart because of Blizzard’s incompetence with Brig, and hell at that point is when OW in general fell apart.
A timeline where Brig was never released, there’s no RQ or 5v5, which is simply pure and clean.
Nope it’s going to be an unbalanced train wreck but unlike original release people won’t be completely bad at the game and know how to abuse all the broken stuff
