Have most people, besides the core community, lost interest in Overwatch? Apex Legends just dropped a new patch w/ a new hero, and viewership is upwards to 200k atm, when normally that game gets 30-40k viewers.
In comparison, when Echo was released for OW viewership barely budged to 35k, and is now back down to sub 20k.
Iâm really not sure how much OW2 will manage to keep peopleâs attentions. Maybe theyâre doing a lot more to the game, which is why we havenât heard an update in a long while. But at the moment it seemed like a L4D/Vermintide copy w/ less content and mechanics.
I donât know what views youâre talking about. If you base game popularity off of viewership, then alot of games arnât popular. But there are still plenty playing them.
I donât watch nor follow twitch.
I think if there is a ton of lore and the PvE missions are exciting enough to bring new players to the game, then it will be pretty successful and keep people around for a while. Hopefully they then migrate over to PvP, already having some experience with the heroes and their base abilities. But PvP needs to have many of its core PvP issues fixed first, especially Assualt(2CP) maps and balance issues, or people will just get frustrated and leave.
I think that having a fully-fleshed out PvE mode(which hopefully they can keep expanding upon with new content patches or DLC) and more frequent updates to the core PvP game and new heroes/maps will keep people playing and streamers streaming.
Overwatch 2 will bring people for a at most 6 months then the decline will be even greater. Unless they add substantial content down the line not just heroes
The OW needs to die (OWL cancelation) in order to live. While money and marketing are getting in the way, we will never have objective balance changes.
The same happened with Heroes of the Storm. After its death (e-sport scene cancelation) the game is in its best state. Accurate and right balance patch notes once a month! We will pay the price of âslowerâ content but hey⌠3 heroes per year and I cant remember when we had a new map / content are not perks of an âaliveâ game.
They need to really show some love to their pro scene with how easily they are being swayed by Valorant. Ya Valorant is having some issues but if pros are jumping ship to an uncertain game that really says how bad the pro scene is.
Looking over your activity, its a steady about every third topic some doom and gloom comment about Overwatch. Why do you keep doing this? I mean if you donât want to play, then literally no reason to go on about it. Didnât you uninstall?
People need to stop believing that views on twitch are the be all of gaming success. There are many games who have very low viewership but are very successful. Also the VODs for the OWL are getting between 200k to 500k views, might not be the best in the world but itâs far from dead.
On being popular that ship has sailed. It can be niche or have a long cult following.
But the only way it can get to 2016 popularity is for OW 2 to go free 2 play. When we are at a time with record number of people stuck at home gaming and itâs not moving any needles shows us that it is what it is.
And players jumping ship in Owl is also a statement at where this game is at the highest level.
