You are dependent entirely on your team to counterswap Mauga. You as the Hog are never going to be the reason you win, and are only going to be the reason you lose.

Yea, swapping and counter swapping has always been a thing, it’s part of the game. Current issue is how easy counter swapping the solo tank is to get value. Especially if the tank and DPS swap to counter your tank, they are now out of the game unless they then swap themselves.

You can’t really counter swap two tanks if they synergize together. Two synergized tanks are designed to cover each other’s weaknesses. It’s why nothing died in OW1 if you had the proper comp. You just looked at each other until one side got enough ults to try and burn down the other team. It was pressure, pressure, maneuver, then ult.

Samito hadn’t made a response on the forums since 2020, and he broke that streak to slap down Neon.

Counterswapping didn’t give a small advantage lol if a team was dominating on dive the other team swapped to antidive or lost. Same for any other playstyle. Players countered dive with brig/brawl. Players tried to counter double sniper with goats. Tried to counter goats with 1/4/1. They tried to counter double shield with doom/symmetra. If all else failed they mirrored. Counterswapping was a huge factor in OW1

Counterswapping was always “essential” what you’re referencing is bad players not using synergy or caring/being capable of counterswapping

Not true. The Hog and his teammates can try to avoid Mauga and hook and kill Maugas teammates instead of counterswapping to directly kill Mauga

Rock, DM, grasp, shield. Even in 5v5, Sigma is going to prioritize keeping Mauga in check to prevent him from just finding the second biggest target in Sigma’s backline because Sigma himself is not a consistently viable target. Why would that change in 6v6?

Hog cannot avoid Mauga. He doesn’t have mobility. Mauga does and will hunt him to the ends of the Earth.
Hog’s team is what will win the matchup, Hog himself is only ever going to lose the matchup by leaving his team with what is essentially an AFK tank.

You’re sorely mistaken if you think you couldn’t swap just 1 hero to bully a tank in OW1 lol. Tank was so unpopular in OW1 because of how easy it was to bully them

Hog doesn’t need mobility to take fights away from the Mauga. Hook has a 20m range, and if Mauga uses charge to W into Hog he has no escape and can be punished and die

Why do people use this idiotic argument of “counterswapping didn’t exist!”

“Solving the counterswap issue” does not mean get rid of it entirely. It existing was never the problem, it’s always existed in overwatch. The problem is that in 5v5 it’s overly effective to just go in spawn, click H, and gain an immediate and immense advantage over someone on the opposing team, mostly the tank.

Like can we please stop being dense for 2 seconds. You never saw people rave on about counterswapping as much as it gets raved on in 5v5… think. Why is that? It’s almost as if it’s overly effective now in 5v5 and wasn’t as big of a problem in 6v6!

Not to mention any of those problems that DID exist in 6v6 were the cause of the game being riddled with hard stuns.

in combination with the fact there were barely any tanks to choose from, the insane amount of hard CC that was ridiculously easy to hit on tanks on the basis of being the largest characters in the game, but we choose to ignore that infavour of the 5v5 agenda and blame it on 6v6 when it was the incompetence of the devs to just hard nerf all of these

the 6v6 code was already tested by Spilo,

his gripe with the gamemode is there being less space and the newer OW2 tanks just sucking in 6v6 on the basis of being terrible tanks concepts

These are workshop made tests, not an official one. Can’t wait till they bring that out.

The codes still give us an insight on how 6v6 may turn out, especially on new gamemodes or new maps which is better than just going in blind

You could literally play any tank into any comp in OW1 up until mid-masters, then it started to be a problem.

6v6 doesn’t mean “no one can counter you.” it means

“I want to play Doomfist, but their roadhog keeps hooking me and so I just get wrecked. Oh, but Zarya is here and can bubble me! I’m safe from hooks now! I can play what I want even if there’s a real counter to my game plan!”
