Will Brian (Timmy's older brother) become the next Hero?

Since the DPS role now lacks a brawler-styled Damage dealer now that Doomfist moved to the Tank Role. Would that space be filled by Brian, the teenage boy who tried the doomfist in the first Overwatch Cinematic Trailer?

I do not know his canonical age during the events of the trailer, but if the trailer was around maybe 2 years prior to the events of Recall that’d make him just big enough to partake on saving the world (we do not want kids getting hurt in this game).

There is also his StarCraft inspired attire, while it doesn’t really mean much, I believe he’d be a great candidate for making his own version of the doomfist, since he would very much be a rocket science geek. I like the idea of Tracer sparking hope into this teenage boy and motivating him into making a difference himself. His suit’s color scheme would very much be mimicking tracer’s since he is inspired by her, a speedy, glass cannon styled DPS Brawler would be an interesting take once OW2 is ready for another DPS character, or maybe he’d be a really mobile support character, since they announced more support characters will be coming these next seasons.

For his in-lore reasons to be part of the OW crew, maybe he’d be motivated to stop Akande since he sullies the core values of the first Doomfist Adhabu Ngumi who was the only “Hero” doomfist. If he was an engineering aficionado he’d have many interesting conversations with half the cast, and I bet he’d probably ask around for signatures more than anyone else from the roster (He has a really fanatic little brother, after all). I like to think he has become very hopeful and cheery ever since that day in the cinematic.

What are your oppinions on this idea, and what are your takes on who the next hero will be in the upcoming new seasons?

in fps you avoid putting too young children or teenagers as playable characters, so as not to create situations… unconventional (already in emoting and sprays you can always express yourself in an equivocal way). However I do believe Brian may have a slot in the future, IF OW’s lore someday moves well beyond “1 year of events” from the present. and the same of course for Alejandra in Dorado and Hanan in Egypt.

However (and it is fair to highlight this) the first trailer of OW already has substantial changes from how the lore is today. think of the holoscreen already showing lucio or bastion as a member of OW, or that “sounquack” was probably lucio’s initial name before making him a non-OW character in the first place.

however, I think that the best candidate could be found in Hero of Numbani. maybe Efi’s cousin, or hypothetically Orisa herself (but we’re talking about very distant lore, not actual gameplay). I would definitely like to see Brian seen again somewhere though. maybe not literally in OW2 but… in the future, when the OW franchise grows as big as WoW or starcraft has. If they decide to push it forward, of course, we’re too slow here.

He looked like 15 in the cinematic - even with a 2-year timeskip, he’s too young to be a playable hero.

Just to play devils advocate, but why would you add him as a hero at this point?

He’s a supporting character from an eight year old cinematic. One that has basically no connection to the ongoing events of Overwatch aside from being in a place where he saw them fighting once.

Some characters are just there as set dressing. Not everyone needs to be a hero. And surely, if there was any internal motivation to make this kid a hero, it would have happened by now?
